if you saw the frame youd be wondering how the hell the truck didnt fold on itself. she slid on nice, into a wall head on and rolled over. truck was doing about 50 when it happened. only a scratch on her. broke the idle air control valve so when youd fire it up, it would go straight to full throttle... LOL

For doing 50 head-on into a wall it didn't look that bad.

Got some more work done today. Pulled the radiator (its trash) turns out the 4 cylinder is smaller than the V6 so now I need to get a new one. Pulled the timing belt cover, belt and pump look almost new. Also painted the grill matt black I like it a lot better.

Finished the grill today and started cleaning up the dash. I cut off the old leather rap on the steering wheel, turns out there is a perfectly good wheel underneath.

Interesting idea on the wheel part; I've been wanting to do something about my own wheel...

Pulled out the old seats, cleaned out some of the nastiness and put the new seats in. Bonus I found the door remote.

    NICE

I've been meaning to look around and see if I have it pre-installed in my 4R.

Where's the location for the setup?

I know the '98 would have the RS3000 if it has one installed; '99 use the RS3200 or RS3000 still?

Thanks, its really starting to come together.

I think all limited modals have it. It looks like its under the steering column. I think the the easiest way to tell would be to try and cycle the locks. If they cycle then the system is there. This is the remote you need.
    1998-2002 Toyota 4Runner 4-Button Key Fob Remote (HYQ1512Y, 89742-35020) FCC ID HYQ1512Y Factory Part Number 89742-35020
Here is the directions to cycle the locks.

    1. Start with key out of ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and
    drivers door is unlocked.

    2. Insert key into the ignition (Do NOT Turn) and Pull key out.

    3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
    A. Using the power lock switch on the drivers door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock. Use an even pace and try to go about one cycle per second. (1Cycle = 1 lock and 1 unlock).
    B. Close, then open drivers door.

    4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
    A. Using the power lock switch on the drivers door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock. Use an even pace and try to go about one cycle per second. (1Cycle = 1 lock and 1 unlock).
    B. Insert the key in the ignition cylinder.
    C. Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF once to program remote while retaining the orginal remote codes. Twice to erase all orginal codes and add new remote. Three times to check how many remotes are programmed or five times to erase all original codes.
    D. Remove the key from the ignition.

    5. Within 3 seconds the power door locks should cycle automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

    6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
    A. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1 second.
    B. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle once indicating successful programming. If the door locks do not cycle, or cycle twice. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 as your remote has not been accepted.
    C. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote.

    7. Close drivers door.

I need to do that; I replaced it on the Taco and figured I should on the 4Runner. You replace your fan clutch?

I did not. When I opened up the timing belt cover I checked all the belts pulleys water pump and fan. It all looked newish so I didn't' mess with it.

I did find a small problem yesterday when I let it get up to temperature there was smoke coming from the back of the motor. It is either an exhaust leak or its just burning crap off the block. Because it was sitting for over a year. I think the gas is pretty bad it was very smokie out of the tail pipe.

Managed to get a lot done today! Installed the Say A Ways. Set them for 2 inches of lift but looks like I got about 3 on the passenger and 2.5 on the driver side. I guess Taco lean applies to 4Runners as well. If the springs don't settle in the few weeks Ill tern them down. Also did the swaybar bushings adding a set of polys that I had laying around off a parts truck.

Had a good hour of time left so I pulled the interior so I can pressure wash the carpet tomorrow.

And managed to kill 2 battery's in the process. :frusty:
