Got it ready for a smog test this week. Drained all the old gas. New oil and filter, New gas and filter, Air filter, and New spark plugs. I turned down the SAWs to 2 inches and put on the Trail Teams with BFGs Her ass is sagging...

Also put some Bose Speakers in the doors that I had sitting around. Why the hell did Toyota use 4" speakers in the back doors...

Looking on forums for how to get about 1.5" lift in the rear. Any info on some springs which should do that? I've seen a few different opinions...

Was looking for FJ exactly. Not easy to find any more - there are some aftermarket FJ "stock height" springs.

I have a set of fronts you can have if you want them. They are off a 07 with 180,000 miles on them.

Man, wipe the dirt off of them and they look brand new.

Easy to install really; any longer and they're a pain in the ass like my 890's :frusty:

I'll clean them up befor I install them. Then put my own layer of dirt and snow on them. Now I need to find a set of shocks to pair with them.

I'd just do a shock relocation; screw trying to fit shocks back there unless they're cheap.

It's why I'm kicking myself for going Kings in the rear, since later on I want to go outboard and longer stroke.

That's brilliant! I never thought of doing outboard on the 4runner. Looks like there is a lot of wrightups on the topic.

At least you can resell the kings. I'm sure that some one will pay top dollar not to have to waste 9 months to get them.

Depending on the shock too, like a 2.5, you may need to run spacers.

There are different variations to running outboard shocks including using Ford shock hangers on the frame (reinforced of course).

But yeah, it's just as popular of a mod as a shock relocation is on a 1st Gen. It's just that Tacoma's more often relocate and keep it under the bed, and 4R's often go outboard.

This is the setup I'm going to do on the truck. May be worth just doing it on the 4runner also.

Registration is complet and passed smog with no issues. Pink slip is in the mail.

Went home after the DMV and noticed the idle was high, about 1,500 rpms. After getting some help from @Empty_Lord I removed and cleaned the idle air control and the throttle body. The IAC was dirty and had a pine nut stuck in it. Cleans reassembled and the idle is back to normal.

More upgrading today. Installed OME 906 rear springs. Got about 2 inches and leveled out the rear.
    image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Also did the break pads, old ones are shot and was getting some shaking when hitting the breaks.

I was surprised it was a full 2 inches. Super stoked how it's turning out. I need to find rear shocks now.

haven't had much time lately to do anything with the 4runner the last 2 weeks. But had family in town and had to take a side by side pic of the old and new.

Swapped out the white merroirs for black the other day. @Taco critter are you still looking for mirrors?
