Cool, at the very worst you just swap out for a lower degree of shim, they are easy to swap as long as you have a c-clamp for holding the pack together while you put the center pin through the shim. Let me know how it works out, it would be nice to have a rough idea of what shims work well with what amount of lift. Currently only have mine and @presto for reference.

Sure it was... I've got a weird mod coming up, gonna put in a second throttle on the shifter for keeping voltage and amperage up during winching and such. That's why I txtd you about bicycle parts.

Yes I can but the friction shifter handle allows me to set it up high and leave it there while I'm winching.

I know this was months ago but how did the throttle on the shifter mod go? My main question is why didn't you just use a larger amperage alternator and switch to an AGM battery? Do you not turn accessories off when you're winching? I've been winching my Toyotas for years and never had to bump up the RPM's just so I could winch. I can literally run my winch line until it doesn't pull any more(even with the headlights on at night), wait 5 minutes, hit the key, and the truck starts right up, which is the advantage of the battery because it has reserve amperage after a short cool down period. It sounds like your winch may have a bad brush in the motor or a field with a broken wire and pulling too many amps.

It went fine considering I've only bought the parts and haven't installed them, haha. Been too busy to bother. I'm sure it would be fine to run without an idle up but considering the winch draws about 180 to 230 amps during steady line pull (with load) and my alternator at max output can only supply 60amps. It stands to reason the rest of the amperage is being supplied by the battery which is fine but that means afterward my alternator will still be working hard to recharge the battery after its taken a decent size hit. For the record I do have an oversized AGM battery and it holds up very well but large loads repeatedly aren't the greatest for any battery and I'd rather not sap it more than necessary. I don't currently have a winch installed anyway but I used my neighbors for reference when I was making wiring looms for my accessories. I will be getting a 120amp alternator out of a Jaguar XJ6 when the opportunity presents itself, currently none are for sale used around me, but it is a direct fit Denso drop in for the 3RZ equipped Tacomas.

I think that's definitely a step in the right direction. My other thought was: can you use the alternator out of a fully equipped V6 truck or 4Runner? If it will bolt up to the factory brackets, you're looking at 140-165 amps depending on model, and if and when it ever fails, you'll be able to pick it up at any auto parts store nationwide and probably cheaper than the Jag unit. Supply and demand has a lot to do with the trucks that I've been building for 20 years, and availability goes a long way, especially when you're in the middle of nowhere and have to hike to a local parts yard or store to get parts. They probably won't have that high dollar gizmowammer part that was purchased off the internet and has no local outlet. Just my $.02 Keep on truckin'!

I like your truck. Dig that front bumper on that Gen 1, I miss my '99. I was also going to make a suggestion that if you were still having driveline vibrations, I had a similar issue on my '99 when I went to the 37" tires. We ended up making a drop down bracket at the center support bearing and ditching the wedges, and it cured the issue. Just a thought.

Were you in the Renton Highlands today? I think I stared at you at a stop sign... I was in my wife's grey IS 300, but you probably noticed me sitting at the stop sign for far too long and driving really slowly past you. lol

Haha, as a matter of fact I was, I went home through there. I was trying to think of the stop signs I saw people at, I'm guessing you were the guy in the nice luxury car headed toward the school zone. That's the only stop sign I remember seeing anyone else stop at. Either way howdy!

Cool! Yeah, I live in Renton too, not far at all. But I've been going through that neighborhood where you saw me for the last 10 years or so cause I've got family that lives in the Highlands. I dig the 4Runner man, looks like a sweet setup, never seen a runner with the supercharger before.

Hey man, what's the ideal seat swap for bucket seats? My driver seat is seriously uncomfortable

I always wanted to swap in Scion XB seats, heard those work great. The problem is that our trucks are pretty cramped on head room, so I realized that if I switched the rails over to be able to bolt in, the seat would be a couple inches higher than stock.......thus

I like what you've done here. It's exactly how a Toyota truck should look. I love the gunmetal SCS F5's and I'm probably going to copy you. If you don't want your turn signal bulbs or wiper fluid reservoir getting smashed up, they're pretty easy to relocate:

I'm not sure how I've managed to ignore my own build so long (apparently so long I no longer get alerts on it). Thank you very much by the way! That means a lot that someone else appreciates the work put into her. Gotta say I'm envious of your truck as well, one day I'd like to plop my ExCab body on a single cab frame.

Not that anyone would know because I neglect to update my build but I actually installed switchback foglight/turnsignals so I don't have to worry about killing my turn bulbs anymore. Still have the washer reservoir up there though, won't bother with it until I destroy it.

Here's a pic with the turn signals, but before the sliders were put on...

Those Icons you asked about will probably ride great on your truck with the weight of that Relentless bumper you have
