LCA does adjust and if the alignment guy didn't adjust it right then your bushings will take a dump real fast...

That thread blows and should be closed. The BJ's are easy to do with simple tools and I would stay away from the AC Delco BJ or whatever that part number is for. If you have really blown a BJ then it's time to get a serviceable one that can be greased.

The revised and completed LCA BJ install thread is here http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/su...oint-replacement-2005-tacoma.html#post3691540

Chances are your cams are seized as well so might wanna read into this one http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/su...-replacement-2005-tacoma-4x4.html#post3691528

The AC delco BJ were the only one listed online, what ones do you suggest?

Both those threads are the same just rewritten???

BTW the hacksaw idea is a great one  I'll remember that!

Moog or similar with a zerk. Part numbers are in the DIY thread

Yes they are, but I do not have the ability to edit "misc" so it was fixed and completed under "XXXX"

Well damn I did not know that, and this is why no one pays me for alignments. I'm alright with that. Back to my computer...

My truck has been making a similar noise for a couple years now. Not sure what it is. It does it when i'm parked or moving slow like into a parking spot or something.

Anyone with a 2010 or older most likely has seized cams. Mine on my 08' were frozen solid and I know some other local guys with 2010's who had seized ones as well.

Loosen the cam bolts after marking them and if the don't rotate they are frozen .....most likely.

Alright gents, here's the scoop. Sounds a bit weird to me on results, but if there's more that really needs to be done, this shop has reached limit.

    - I asked specifically about the cam bolts. They said they looked fine and they lubed them up (wouldn't you have to press them out to do that?)
-They claim that at full lock you can do a consistent popping. I haven't had an area big enough to try that, I'm going to head to the Sears parking lot tomorrow to give it a go.
-They said that due to the lift, I can oversteer the boundaries of the rack & pinion, causing it to pop. I'm not missing any teeth, otherwise I would feel it in the steering (which I don't feel)
-As a result, they suggest I buy some Fabtech (or Centech) steering stops, which stick out more and reduce the radius of my turn.

I haven't heard of anyone needing new steering stops, so that sounds sort of like a last ditch answer?

I just found this thread (thank you 'similar threads' tool!), and it sounded like one guy fixed it with an alignment... no doubt I could always use one of those. I'm thinking the Firestone lifetime alignment might be the deal to do next.

I had this problem on my truck as well a pop while in full lock. I found an article somewhere on the internet dont remember where all I remember is it was saying that there is nylon cap or cover that will break and the clunk or pop you hear is metal hitting metal while in a turn at full lock. The article said it was of no concern just dont turn at full lock. Does this sound plausible to yall?

They are talking about the steering stop. It was a bigger issue in 1st gens. for 2nd gens, just dab some grease on them. I think you do the same with 1st gen, but I haven't seen what they look like

Firestone does not provide lifetime alignments for 4x4 of lifted/lowered vehicles any longer. They were losing tons of money. All others who have it are grandfathered in.

Yeah, they were describing the fabtech as clips that fit over the steering stops, but the few pics I can get off a Nissan forum make it sound like it's a full replacement that comes with their kits.

Well I was told by the general manager when I was getting my 4th alignment it was no longer available. You might wanna check the small writing on your paperwork. If you go back with different tires and or parts your most likely screwed. They aren't stupid and I doubt the guy I have been dealing with for almost 2 years was lying to me, but who knows

Eh looked more into it online and sounds like Firestone is just another Jiffy Lube.

I think I've proved to myself that I've made my last visit to Toyota of Olympia.
I went to the Sears parking lot, which has a crazy amount of open space. Did a fully locked set of turns, both right, left, forward, backward. Truck is as silent as the day I bought it. I go to park with a moderate turn, POP.
Granted it was wet out, but I don't think dry pavement is going to change much.

im pretty sure it has nothing to do with your CVs cuz i have the EXACT same poping sound and im a Prerunner.... this morning i too took it into toyota and they also suggested that it was the rack and pinion as well.... the LEFT side had a popping sound as well ... but was not leaking.... i donno if it would make a difference but im thinking of replacing my tie rods... maybe with allpro or someone else... damn thought i was the only one with this issue lol

Yeah, I still haven't figured it out either. I got an alignment and no difference. I can sometimes get the pop going straight with the brakes on, right before a full stop.

from what i understand is that as long its not leaking or damaged than it should be fine (someone please correct me if i am wrong).. the alignment gates are on point as well as no steering issues other than when turning into a driveway... i lube them a shit ton and will go away for a couple weeks than come back... the tie rods are something that i am looking a lot more into now....
