Starting mine today. Are extended bump stops necessary. I don't plan on wheeling hard for a little while. I just dont have them right now and want to get this done. I'll order them an add them later if it won't mess anything up

Probably not a requirement as long as youre not bottoming it out. I would just wait another couple of weeks and do it all at once. You dont want to take u-bolts on and off that often.

Agreed - I would just wait. How long does it take to receive bumpstops? A couple of days at most then pushing it back to the free day.

If dead set on installing the bumps later, put it back on the stands, support the axle and try loosening the u-bolts just enough to slip the new bump stops in. This way you aren't completely removing the u-bolts. Last thing you want is to be taking the u-bolts on and off. Never tried this so don't know if it will work.

One thing, if re-using your factory bumps, you're going to have to drill them out a little bit to make them fit over the center pin (the center pin is longer than the bump stop is deep).

    Just wait. :anonymous:

EDIT: This thread is huge - lots of info in it, just have to search the thread itself. I referenced it quite a bit when doing my OME install.

I'll just do the front end for now then. OR install it on factory bump stops now and order a U bolt flip kit w/ bump stops to do later

When I first did my suspension, I knocked out the front 1 day and did the rear the week after.

I've found people running the full OME kit don't bother with extending their bump stops. Not sure if the shocks are limiting droop or not but it's just a trend I had noticed.

I did some more flexing last night and I intentionally pushed my truck at a steep angle -

I got close to the bump stop and with limited travel left in my shock, I'm actually going to extend the stops a bit further.

I don' rock crawl at all, but I'm one of those "better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it"

Where are your jack stands here? The axle and the frame?
