That is exactly how I felt about it. Then when it came in, I was like :yay: As far as the Icons, I am not sure how they will hold up with the 650lb springs. I got 700lbs springs as the same time I got the bumper, and I have a winch installed as well. (4wheelparts has a deal $100 for a XRC8 w/free shipping when you get the ARB). If you don't have the Icons already, you can buy them with the 700lbs spring now from DSM for a little bit of money. It is indeed very heavy especially with the winch. It does bolt up to all factory holes. There are only 2 holes you need to drill, and they are in the bumper itself. Once you get it aligned the way you want it, you drill one hole on each side and bolt it down. This will prevent it from dropping over time. I still haven't done this because I have not got it exactly where I want it yet. Very easy to install just a bit time consuming. If you got to ARB's site, you can download the install instructions to see what it takes. Let me know if have any questions.

Icon's with 650lb springs have trouble with a front skid, bumper, and winch. You basically have to run them at full spring compression, which compromises the ride a bit.

700lb springs are a better choice, and it appears there isn't any coil bind of note.

Would the700lb run the same off road (same amount of travel possible?)

Asolutely...the sping only holds the weight of the truck (ie ride height). The travel is prevented by the shock the spring is on.

Travel would only be limited if the coil bound, which it doesn't seem to do.

My theory is that 700lb coils require less preload, thus the spring isn't as compressed at ride height, so even if it's longer, the coils are more spread out when achieving the same level of lift.

Therefore, the spring can compress to where bumpstop limits travel before the coils bind...the spring is more spread out to start with.

Slimwood - nice to know about the Icon 700lb coils. I'll probably still go with the Kings when I retrofit. The blue will look slammin' on my truck

Only used it once. Worked well when I used it. Didn't even strain it...

ha yeah. I mean the only time I would need it is if I do something stupid and get stuck in snow/mud, which I've done before.... Just want to make sure it's strong enough.

I imagine it should be ok....8k or 9k should work well. Get the 9k if you are worried...The only reason I got the 8k is because it was only $100. If one day it won't pull me out, I will sell it for what I paid and still be in the green.:D
