I have a 2005 Tacoma Quad cab with a 4.0 and Manual transmission.

I noticed today the tachometer isn't very accurate. When at idle it shows 0rpm. When I start to go and I haven't got it much above 4,000rpm Max.

Has anyone had this issue and what did they find was the issue?

    Thanks in advance

Not sure, but the following threads seem to mention needle misalignment, bad ECU connection, or defective crank position sensor:

I had that exact issue in my '07. I took the plastic cover off of the gauge cluster and with the engine running at idle, manually moved the needle back to ~750 RPM. That put it back into alignment for the entire RPM band. A little hack, but it worked. I had to do it three times throughout the life of the truck.

I did a search and didn't come up with any of these. I really need to learn how to do a search better. Thanks for this.
