Tacoma frame rust

Hi! I'm Keith Jewell and I've owned Toyotas since 1974 Corolla wagon) and Toyota pickups (Pre-Tacoma) since the late 80's. I recently replace a badly frame rusted 2006 Tacoma with what- seemed-to-be a solid 2010 Tacoma. I need to know more about Tacoma frame rust. Recent d
eep investigation has revealed "some" rust damage, which a professional welder friend of mine has welded up, after priming the entire frame. We've rust-inhibiting primed the whole frame and painted it over. Should I have given it to Toyota to get the frame replaced, or is that process over. Are the 2010's prime rust targets? Do I have any chance of this truck lasting, or should I get rid of it now., freshly repaired? Was there any point at which Toyota Tacomas "beat" the fram rust problem.

 

Since you have already repaired it , just keep it. Keep the frame protected from future rust with some wool wax, fluid film or similar. Your truck doesn’t qualify for frame replacement, it’s too old.
