Do you have a pseudo logic diagram to explain how these are being used?

I would think if he did that he would give some of his work away. That said, I think we all here appreciate the fact he tries to show & explain as best as possible without divulging all he as worked on. Toyota watches TW, don't doubt it for a minute. The questions they send me on surveys every now & then are so close to some topics here it's spooky. To all on the east coast, stay safe, be safe.

This may be a dumb question but recently I changed my spark plugs and I just realized I put the wrong (not exact) Denso plugs in. The stock gap is .031” and the new ones I put in are 0.039”. Not a huge difference (1/125th of an inch).

    1. Is this bad? Truck seems to run fine
    2. Will different spark plugs affect the tune?

    Appreciate any thoughts/advice on this

Only problem I see that might come up down the road is the gap will very slowly get bigger just from normal use. Each time it fires the electrodes wear ever so slightly. You may developed a miss over time.

Gap too large is easy to detect, you would have misses - the spark gets blown out - or misfires, usually worse at higher RPM (although it's harder to detect a miss at higher RPM, idle is best for the listen test).

On the other hand if you aren't missing you get clean burns, so you're getting all of the power available from ignition on a particular stroke.

Readjust the gap to the proper gap and you should be fine.

Appreciate the feedback. I’m still going to put the right ones in even though it’s running clean IMO. They aren’t adjustable gap wise due to the plugs being triple prong. I’ll just have extras once I put the right ones in.

Pays to double check the part # even if Amazon is telling you they fit your vehicle

    Duh on my part

Now we're getting to the nuts and bolts of it..
No wonder the throttle response is so inconsistent when rev matching.

Also, I still believe the dead feeling off idle is artificial. Anyway, more good stuff coming soon!

Problem with this forum is we need options other than "like", such as "love". Thank you for the update.

Alright...I finally paid off my first modifications and am now ready for the tune...is there a cliff notes of what's been going on the past few weeks since the last time I read 70 or so pages? Are new purchasers of the tune not receiving them until 1.05 is done?

All you need to buy is the tactrix plug and the tune, correct? (Assuming you have a PC laptop.)

Is the flash manager new? If I read the first post correctly, you no longer need to pre-identify which ecu you have you just hook up the flash manager and it will tell you?

What is happening with some reported brickings of ECU? Is this specific to certain models, ecu flashes, etc. This makes me scared to try it.

    Thanks for any answers.

If I remember correctly, Mat said there are upwards of 10 or more computers on these trucks and the items you are asking about are not on the ECU/TCU he has been tuning.

The tune is available currently in version 1.04 and 1.04r if you have the latest TSB-58/62-18 applied.

The kits come with the cable you need or pay $170 less and buy your own. Yes on the PC, must be windows, or Mac running Windows.

Currently there is a new flash manager in development to be released in conjunction with the 1.05.

I've heard of people locking up their ECU, but only read one post of someone doing it. Seems they were trying to update to the latest TSB and has an issue, none that I know of have happened installing OVTune.

Being you have a 2018, if you have the TSB and 04A61 ECU then theirs nothing available yet. Those of us with that configuration are still waiting for either 1.04r or for the new 1.05 to drop. Hopefully 04A61 ecu’s will be included in the initial drop of 1.05.

I'd like smoothness, really noticed this morning that the power isn't linear in any way, maybe heavier wheels would make this smoother but who wants that?! (yes yes, joking)
