Have you read up on how to set up techstream, and then how to use your OBD cable with it?

    Here's something that may help:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ine-ecu-reflash.515734/page-179#post-17404450

Don't worry about setting up all the PIDS for logging (unless you want to try that lol).

Oh and, the mother of all posts for flashing Toyota files with Techstream (post 1828):

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/software-update-for-the-manual.562550/page-92

Obviously the .CUW files mentioned within are for the Manual trans!

A big thanks to @tonered for bringing all that info into one post!

I'm not complaining. Love 1.04 compared to OEM. Just odd that it would begin to act somewhat like it did before OVTune. About 2000 miles on the Tune. ??? Based on what Mat has said about all the crap Toyota has loaded into this ECU setup who knows. Something @OVTune Mat is asking for in terms of "feedback/improvements." Just the messenger and no the sky is not falling.

I would like to confirm what I believe is true. The difference between these two options; the top one includes the tune, but requires a computer to upload the file to the truck and is also customizable. The bottom one, includes the handheld(which eliminates the need for a computer) but does not allow for custom tunes?

Am I reading this correct? Will the one that allows for the custom tune still need the obd2 adapter?

What is the general consensus on the custom tunes? Are they necessary?

It seems like a no brainer to go with the handheld option, but I want others opinions.

I’m sure this answer is in this thread some where, the amount of pages were very intimidating.

The handheld tuner is not capable of logging. That’s the reason that the original flash kit is custom tuning capable. The logger add on option for the handheld is required for data logging.

Great thank you for the quick explanation. and just to reiterate, if I get the custom tune package without the handheld, I do not need to buy the obd2 connector?

Which is the orange plug thing you get with the usb cable in the "custom tune package", correct? If so, is it the same as a tactrix unit? As in, do I need to download drivers for it to get it to work with techstream? One of the reasons I bought that package was that I'm sure I read somewhere on TW that people were using it to do so, but I just want to make sure I understand what I have and how to use it.

    In progress.... And getting better!
True that! I got in with 1.02 and even though it was still technically a Beta tune, it was such an improvement over the stock tune. Plus it had options.

I think he said at the end of the month when he release's the Handhelds. He needs time to update all the test vehicle issue's or request's for improvements to 1.05.

He wants everything to be as perfect as it can be for 1.05 so my guess its going to be Halloween! I would rather wait for the tune to be as good as it can be!

After having the original release, being excited for 1.01, then 1.02, then.......... anyways 1.05 could be another 2 months away and i would still be happy with the original release. Mark my words, after 1.05 drops some people will ask what's next just because we love the thrill of the hunt.

Its going to be released much sooner than the end of the month. He only used the 30th as a place holder just incase somthing popped up and he needs more time.

After 1.05 it will be Matt dealing with everyones stupidity and not knowing how to read instruction and the small amount of folks who have genuine issues. Then TWIN TURBOS!!!!! > : - )
