So 1.05 tune. Got it all installed and drove to work.

Gear lock. Sweet. I can finally cruise at 70 in fifth gear without it constantly dropping to fourth then back and forth while just trying to maintain 70.

D mode. Is this supposed to function this way. After trying gear lock I popped it over to D. Instantly dropped into sixth. Which was weird because I’ve never seen sixth, even downhill. But figured oh that’s nice 1500 rpm will do wonders for gas mileage. I hit traffic and dropped to around 55. I think it went into fifth. But I never got it below that. Even floored for couple seconds it stayed in fifth. That’s doing below 50 somewhere. I tried flooring it, goosing it, steady 50% more throttle. Nothing. Popped it back into S mode and continued on the way.

Is that regular performance for D and 1.05?

And holy throttle response. I had to relearn how to drive this am.

    Pretty freaking cool, huh?

I believe you have to turn off ECT to get out of GL.

Toyota choked this truck with a craptastic tune.

Ah that makes sense. I’ll give it a shot.

Yeah major difference between 1.02 and 1.05.

Before I was on the fence if the tune was worth it. Now it is definitely.

Yeah. I like the thoughts of the earlier tunes, but work and details of 1.05 pushed me over the edge. Stoked for even more in 2.0.

Is there anything to be gained by applying any TSBs before flashing an OV tune? If so, can those be applied via the OV software or would that need to be done via Techstream separately?

I thought there was, but I have seen posts going both ways. I could be wrong. I do know that some old tunes (not your 2017) take longer for OVT to develop.

You need to install TS and use the Tactrix cable that comes with the OVT kit. All the info is here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/software-update-for-the-manual.562550/

The Toyota tunes cannot be updated with just FM.

Thanks for the clarification. I hoped to get around the dual-boot issue of XP for Techsteam and Win10 for OVT, but I guess I'll have to get that running if I want to use both.

    You're welcome.

The version of TS linked there runs perfect on Win10. I have it on our old laptop that started life in Win7, now 10, and my surface.

I had a similar experience, had in gear lock S mode then switched it to D mode and the truck stayed in 6th even when i floored it up a hill. It was shitty as I didn't think to put it back in S and drop the gear, instead i backed up a bunch of traffic as I couldn't accelerate.

Flashed the 1.05 87 perf tune this morning on my 2019. I’ve only had the opportunity to drive around 10 miles in traffic, but there is a VERY noticeable delay/hang between 2nd and 3rd gear. No shudder or “rumble” but there is definitely a big pause like the transmission is having a hard time shifting. 1>2 and 3>4 are snappy quick. What’s the consensus on this?

Put more miles on the truck first, especially if you also reset LV / AT

FWIW, my truck ran terrible for about the first 50 miles, post LV reset. I’d say it took a good 150+ miles before everything settled in where I couldn’t noticed anything out the ordinary.

    Thank you for this.

I understand that the acoustic tune will give more low end torque across the board, increasingly so as octane improves. The A T will also give more top end power as octane improves.

I also understand that the Dump Tube will provide even more power at each octane level, if also Acoustic Tuned.

What I don’t understand is, at the same octane level, with the proper A T, will the addition of the Dump Tube provide more or similar low end torque?

    Thanks.......... Frank

...the ECU settling takes at least 2-300 miles. I read somewhere that Toyota says their stock tune takes up to 1200 miles to settle as it “learns”. For me 87 base became VERY (noticeably) nice after 900 miles. Mileage and felt power increased significantly

So is 2.0 going to have octane specific tunes? I thought it was gonna adjust based on fuel used...

Wouldn’t be surprised if the stock tune does take that long. I’m referring to the stumbling, erratic shifting, etc that many of us have experienced immediately after AT and engine control LV resets.

I hear you though. It’s takes time for everything to balance out.

Indeed. After LV reset the truck always behaves like it has a cold for about 50 miles...at least for me

The way Mat spoke of 2.0 was that multiple maps will be condensed into one build, and the truck will determine which to use based on correction values. I'm assuming this is still the case
