Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

That's pretty clear, but what I'm wondering is; does he have to buy the software only package, or just the registration key because its one of your cables?

 

It's been covered before.... You don't have to buy the full "cable-less" package. Only pay for the "license transfer".

 

Is this for people that didnt order dump tubes

Just joined the forum a few min ago so don't bash me on this question.

I searched for something like it and couldn't find much. I have the OV tune 1.05 in my 18 6 speed TRD pro. The thing hesitates like no tomorrow, RPM hang when shifting above 3500k ish, when taking off in first gear the power is like on a bar graph, very jerky and sudden, not smooth at all. I have gone to the dealer before and they basically told me to pound sand. Even with the tune the truck drives like crap. Should I look into selling the truck or is this something OV will fix? Anytime someone gets in the truck it makes me look like I can't drive a stick. Very embarrassing. The harder I drive it, the more noticeable it is. Also the 3500-4k power hangup/drop is VERY ANNOYING.

I had tacomas for years and loved them. This one is leaving a very sour taste in my mouth. I have prevented 3 people from buying them new so far. I really don't want to sell it but I will if this can't be fixed. Fingers crossed. Thanks guys!

 

Are you running Base or FOB version?

Also the 3500 RPM surge / power spike is the ACIS

 

Correct, FOB with the 93 oct. Is that AICS something that can be fixed?

 

I would recommend coming down to 87 FOB, and doing the ADM, if you have not already.

 

Just flashed in the 87 FOB, ill try that tonight on my way to Taco Tuesay. What is the ADM though?

 

FOB is the Full Otto B version. essentially performance version for manual transmission vehicles.
the new buttons are :
Read trouble codes, clear trouble codes,. reset Learned Values, reset Automatic Transmission learned values.
The only one you might want to try would be LV.

Yes definitely feel it stock engine

 

for dump tube owners. they just went out for shipping.

 

Rev hang is there stock and tuned. I would recommend trying the 87 Base tune first. The throttle response difference from stock and tune might be too much IMHO. According to some, the throttle response will settle after tank or so.

That jerkiness in first is probably attributed to the clutch accumulator. There's an accumulator delete thread that was linked above.

Ordered the Catted dump pipes from OVTune today, also placed an order for a DirtyDeeds Tacoma exhaust. Hopefully with the updated 2.0 tune it will be a killer combo!!!

 

Will the 4th discount apply to the key if I just need that since I bought a used cable?

 

Anyone else run into the missing DLL issue that isn't fixed by installing the standalone C++ package or copying the file from system32? I still get an "unable to start correctly (0x000007b)" error.

I've read through what posts I can find about it, but none of those workarounds are getting the job done.

EDIT: I found the problem. Only the PDF instructions have a link to the X86_64 installer. The main page and instructions all link to the X86 (32-bit) version, which doesn't seem to play nicely on a 64-bit system. Since pretty much everything semi-modern is 64-bit, this may come in handy for someone else.

 

Wait, there are issues with MT Tacomas? All along I thought they were the holy grail, containing zero issues and are far superior to anything and everything else ever produced.
