What version of 2.0 are you talking about? My truck doesn't do this at all when running 19770 or 04A61+-+2.0+EROM+-+Shift+Build+16012+-+Base+.p5f. In fact, 16012 almost totally eliminated this issue for me and is practically perfect in every way.

Is it possible to completely disable or tune out the Atkinson cycle? Isn’t that where a big portion of the complaints come from or am I wrong on that assumption?

Try them all! But try them on more than 1 tank of fuel.

    So you're running 4.88's?

    yes

Just to make it clear, I'm talking about this issue:

"I will be going up an incline say at 65mph in 5th or 6th. Slowly I will start pressing the peddle as the truck is slowing down because physics... keep pressing, keep pressing.... and about 60% depressed it FINALLY kicks down. And it doesnt just kick down one gear, it kicks down and takes off like a racecar again"

Yep, I understood your first post. Stock gearing with 16012 doesn't exhibit this behavior at all. Must be something in the 4.88 tune. My truck behaved in this way in this situation with the stock Toyota code, with 1.05 Base 87/91/93, and with the 2.0 beta OLE tune. 16012 eliminated it for me. Pressing the go pedal gives me predictable, linear acceleration and shifting. It's a dream, actually. 19770 is the same as far as shifting goes in this scenario, but I don't like the aggressive tip-in at all.

@OVTune, with the new 2.0 beta being released later this week,

Should we not "clear the trims" for this next release?
When was "clearing the trims" necessary? At first install of OVTune?

@OVTune, will the next 2.0 beta tune have octane learning?
I take it that "full throttle pulls in Gearlock, 2nd gear or better" (as noted above) are not required unless octane learning is enabled?

    Thank you!

It gives you predictable, linear acceleration and shifting going uphill at 65 mph? i'm talking about a long uphill drive.

Yes it does. It smoothly shifts from 6 -> 5 -> 4, and then to 3 if necessary, and the pedal is quite responsive. Of course, I'm not talking about a 6% grade here, just moderate rolling inclines.

I just installed the latest 2.0 to check it out. I understand that most of us don't drive 4 low everyday, but those of us who do use 4 low on a frequent basis, especially with lower gears (4:88 or 5:29 when the tip in sensitivity is greater), not having the base throttle is a deal breaker. Have you tried 4 low 1st gear with performance tune? It's not happening. Truck bounces all over the place until you get up to a certain speed. The 2WD low range mod is useful for backing up trailers, etc. (making use of the 4 low gears), and the throttle response needs to be smooth as butter or else 2 low doesn't work. I'm just happy that Mat is trying to accommodate everybody! Dont worry, 5:29 guys, your tune is coming! ;)

Got it. We might be talking about different uphill driving. I noticed that happening on a 2 mile long incline. Not sure about the grade, nothing crazy, but also not just a little hill.

Given that it's 2 mile long, that behavior kept repeating over and over, it wasn't just a one time thing.

do you have randomly still the description from 16012 tune? I changed between all the 2.0 beta's and now I'm not sure which one I have right now. With my latest, I have no downshift with ECT & D and move in the rpm area around 2k-3k and I like it, but I don't know the number.

So what 2.0 is a good fit for a 17 TRD sport dc 4x4; AT; # 04B04; 33” tires ; stock gears ? Or do I need to just start with base and go on from there....

there currently is no finished 2.0 tune, only beta test files. Right now there are two performance tunes available, one regular and one for 4.88 gears. You can download both and test them yourself. There is supposed to be a new test file available tomorrow.

@OVTune will you be auto-emailing the Dump Tube tunes or do we need to request via zendesk?

The inclines I'm talking about are 1/4-1/2 mile long, and the truck behaves as I described. If it were shifting like yours is it would still be hunting gears on these.
