Hey members. I wanted the members perspective on this. I have flashed the tune for 1.05 87 Octane Base and it feels like stock to me. I then flashed the 1.05 87 Octane Performance tune just to see if I was doing the whole process right. I can confirm that I am going through the whole process right. 1.05 87 Octane Performance is too sensitive for me. I feel like I will hit a car in front of me when the light turn from red to green. I then went to flashed the 1.05 87 Octane Base again and it still feel like stock to me. Is it in my head or is that how 1.05 87 Octane Base suppose to feel? Thanks in advance for the perspective.

If you’re running 1.05 I have no input. My truck is 2019 and through much reading I decided to stay away from it. If you’re running 2.0 it’s definitely a noticeable tune on my truck. I started with 91 and went to the more aggressive 19770 build. Took a bit to get used to the throttle but I did. You will too if you give it time. However, I decided to stay away from that as well not because I wasn’t used to it but when I come out of a downhill roll and turn and then press the throttle it would jerk the truck quite hard and make a loud clunk. No matter how many times I tried it it would do the same. Only way I could stop it was wait until the truck was relying on the engine to move it rather than gravity.

I’m running the 87 tune now on 2.0 beta and it works fine and still noticeable in shifting. If you didn’t have any issues with shifting beforehand then you’ll not be able to notice a heck of a lot of difference unless you paid close attention to how it did before and then after over some time with each.

Thanks for the perspective. I am running 1.05. How do I get the 2.0 beta flash file? I could not download it from the Toyota Flash Software.

Hmmm... I see all the 2.0 files are for the ecus that have the tsb. Is this a coincidence or am I going to have to go get the tsb done?

You'll need to get the TSB. You can do it yourself using Techstream. There's information somewhere in this thread on how to do it...

That's a bit vague...the latest TSB is in regards to a fuel pump. Before that the mmRadar sensor in the grill. Before that there were 2 different ones for the transmission.

Clarification of which specific TSB you are referring to would be greatly alppreciated.

I'm looking at getting the OVTune, but have yet to pull the trigger.

The “latest” TSB mentioned is referring to any TSB that updates your 2018 ECU from 04A60 to 04A61.

    T-SB-0062-18 will do it.

I bought my 2018 early in the yr and it had ECU 04A60. I took it to the dealer and had it updated to 04A61. That's all I did. Not sure if you know what ECU you have (it will be one of the two) but if you have 04A61 I'd say your good to go. You can check with an OBDII reader or you can go do it with Techstream which is a lot more time consuming.

The dealer should have applied this sticker to your hood....
