Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I've also had mine on stock tune for over a year. No issues yet.

 

That’s what i did... but that’s also partially cuz my truck has been doing a lot of sitting

 

How has the 35 tune been with stock tire size?

 

Agm batteries like 14.5 volts more. Keeps them happy and lasting longer..factory runs no more then 13.8. With my ultragauge it constantly reads 13.5 at most. So in a sense over couple years ill deplete the agm battery. With vftuner you can increase voltage input to the battery. You should have some spec readings on your battery for it

 

I got a buddy who has had a g27 Northstar and he noticed a decrease in his performance over past couple years of owning. But still would be nice to run the desired specs for the battery. I also have a winch on my taco

 

Oft have a slightly different setup then just the regular flash kit so thats why I'm curious to know if I just have to pay that 79 bucks or is there different procedure for me. No biggie either way. Ill get it figured out with mat soon enough !

 

Matt and others have talked about how at least the afe intake has caused some issues with it. I think due to the fact the maf sensor is moved. Personally I'd just get an hps intake tube and dry filter. Call her a day. Then get ur desired snorkel. No issues then

 

It ran good! I ran it all the way up until I started fine tuning stuff in VF Tuner. Held gears longer which cut out on some lugging in lower gears after upshifting. Highway driving was about t he same as all the other, gear hunting on steep inclines but wasn’t as bad as before.

 

Fiddled with a higher performance ECT mode and did a 0-60 on that.

- dropped to 7.20s
- hit the fuel cut off I set at 7000rpms

I’d like the most hp/tq tune?!?

It’s a 2016 with 32’s and stock gears.

Auto or manual?

Either way, grab TS from the ecu update thread and get updated to 04b04 or 04b14. Then grab a tune. Any of them will be a huge upgrade over stock

??? I thought 04b04 was the end of the road for TSB'S for that AT version of the ecu (2016-2017) (04b00,04b01,04b03....04b04) ? what does 04b14 add to the equation?

i do have a trd cai installed. i contacted ovtune before purchasing to see if that cai would be an issue with their tune. the response from them said there is no issues running the trd cai and the ovtune. i have been on 2.0 with the cai for about 3 months now and i have zero issues.

 

Trd and stock are practically identical so I wouldnt see a issue either

 

I have the aFe with scoop and have been on EVERY iteration of the tune and have never had the slightest issue.

 

However, lowering the output as the engine temp goes up remains unanswered if it is needed? And, if so, how to do that.
