I've been running 1.02C for only a few days now so take my opinion for what it's worth. Off the line is so much better, passing is so much better, doesn't stumble, search for a gear then decide to go. My MPG's seem to be up some, hard to tell, not enough time yet, but definitely not lower. When watching the mileage on the head unit on the ECO app I think its called, my mileage bars are even across, not the roller coaster ups & downs they were before. I could be wrong, placebo effect maybe, but the exhaust sounds a little smoother at idle, almost has that sound to it like when you first fire it up, but all the time at idle now. That might just be my imagination though. Side note on passing. My wife would get a little anxious when I was passing before, start reaching for the "oh shit" handle because of the way the truck stumbled, searched then hit it's power band when I was passing. Now she's surprised how the truck behaves when I pass somebody now, smooth & predictable. I think Mat's price is a bargain for what he's delivered & he's not done. Toyota owes him commission on the sale of my truck. LOL

If one wants to get the most of the tune, should we have ECT switched on ?

Not necessary. I used to have ECT On about 90% of the time before the tune. After the tune I hardly ever use ECT. Only time I use ECT is when I have explosive diarrhea and I have to get to the neareat gas station. ECT + OV Tune feels like releasing a caged tiger.

But really. The tune isn't so much about performance as it is DRIVEABILITY. The tune makes the Tacoma perform more like a normal vehicle.

Just filled up yesterday and got 12.5mpg this tank. The worst yet! I switched to 1.02C shift A (87 octane) for a few fill ups. Back to the 91 tune for now. Im like many and on the verge of getting rid of the truck. No real reason other than I miss my FJ and the 4.0L. If I can find the right deal I will be in an FJ or 4runner Trail soon.

Looking for that "right deal" though made me realize why I dont like buying new vehicles! I havent had this one long enough to really justify getting rid of it. I will lose half the equity I rolled into it from my FJ trade. So I feel like Im getting beat.

I wish the naming of these things made a little more sense. 1.02C and the new one is 1.03C.

You’d think 1.03 would be good. Why the C?

I thought 1.03C was for the M/T guys? Since they are on 1.03 now?

It should be 1.19. The mass confusion would be hilarious.

I’m sure people would be wanting the versions that don’t actually exist because the older one was better for some reason.

Exact same experience for me. You look like a jackass trying to pass bc you have to basically floor it on stock tune to get it moving. Even had a buddy ask if I had a bad turbo setup or something bc of the “lag”. I haven’t driven the truck stock for 6 months and I don’t intend to either. It’s enjoyable to drive now which wasn’t the case the first 7 months when I was trying to justify dumping it and losing a few grand out of frustration!

Even took it in for service this week, none the wiser...

I'm just speaking in general to the performance of the vehicle. Tachometer, sounds of the rig, speedometer etc

Okay. Well... my Tach still works the same. I noticed an improvement in the engine sound when I first installed the tune V-1.02C-A (91), and I believe the Speedometer still skips over 81 (or 82) mph. I can't recall for sure which reading it is that the speedo jumps right over.

    EDIT: It's 81mph
Someone had posted a video of this phenomenon somewhere in this Forum.

Has anyone figured out how to resolve this issue? I can't get the serial number to get the files.
