Either hit up Mat and request the file or let me know and I can email any tune version to you all the way back to 1.01B assuming you are on B0300...

Can't argue with personal experience and reality either. This calculator everyone keeps comparing RPM numbers to is way off. I've been running 4.88's for almost a year now with 33's. RPMs cruising at 75 are 2150

Yea same here. I have been 4.88s and 33s for about 14 months. Just today I was watching the RPMs and noticed in 6th with convertor locked, I am pulling 1800 rpms at 55mph. Anything above 55 just compounds and RPMs climb pretty quick.

Finally, just out of curiosity how did you find out about it? Is this Toyota finally acknowledging that people aren’t happy?

Half of my daily commute is city so I have a lot of stop and go traffic. Thought to myself, "let's try ECT so I can get from red light to red light faster".. <sarcasm>

ECT definitely sends those RPM's up. Truck was not happy with going slow. It was like walking a dog that wants to do nothing but run. :)
I'll save ECT for highway. I just wish that button was on the steering wheel instead of the other TSS junk.

I’m stoked on this! I’ve spent too much money trying to make myself happy with this truck. The OV tune sounds cool but it’s also another $800 on top of gears and everything else. Glad I checked back in to today. Thanks dudes

Dang, the new tsb sounds pretty nice. Now I just have to wait for 1.05 to drop so I can experience it :D

Yeah, I'm so curious what Toyota has done and have thought about going in to get the update done a few times. Then I remember how miserable my truck is/was to drive stock. And then I think about how, even IF (big IF) Toyota has addressed much of the shifting issues I'd still be left with a truck that suffers from drunk throttle response and less power. I'm not willing to take that gamble for a month or more.

I do want to be able to compare Toyota's best effort against Mat's though so I will likely get the new TSB when 1.05 is released so I can compare / contrast, knowing I can quickly get the power back w/ 1.05 ;)

It is a good idea, that way you can copy the ecu before you reflash to 1.05, and flash it back to stock if you ever have to trade it in or sell it.

This may have been addressed before but I do know the future @OVTune files have to match the trucks ECU (4B0200 , 4B0300 etc.) If we do not get the 4B0400 (latest TSB ), let's say we have the 4B0300 , will the new 1.05 tune files need to be specifically for the 4B0300 like it has been in the past ? If this is the case there will be separate new 1.05 files for the 4B0400 (different from 4B0300) , and if this is so , I think my friend will definitely want to get the new TSB first , before getting the 1.05 .
But then , if he does not like the 1.05 tune , will there be a 1.04 version that will work with the 4B0400 ?

I never did understand why someone who had the 4B0100 ecu had to go to the dealer for a newer flash since OVtune has the original 4B0200 and 4B0300 files . Why could someone not just use the 4B0300 file from @OVTune ?

The reason is with ECU version 04B00 and 04B01, when toyota updated to 04B02/03 they changed very large sections of the code itself, which controls how everything is used. (so for example changing the math that calculates something)

But the difference between 04B02/04B03/04B04 is not any code, just the section that holds data. So modifying the data section is much simpler, but when large sections of code are modified you need the complete update for it to work properly.

Still working on if it will be a update to 04B04 + tune, or will be updates ontop of older ECU IDs.

So , it is possible that if we want the new 1.05 tune we MAY NEED the new 4B0400 update from Toyota ? @OVTune
Also , although I am guessing no one will want to go back unless because of quirks of individual trucks . Will trucks be able to go back to the 1.04 and or 1.03 tune with both the 4B300 and the 4B400 ?
It is a given and a shame on Toyota's part that not all trucks behave the same by either faulty design or poor manufacturing practices . A long time ago I posted my view in the first TSB thread for the ECU ,that it all has to do with the actual specs and outcome within the tolerances for each individual transmission . IE the far ends of the different tolerances of each of the components of the transmission , cause different symptoms and quirks , at different operating temps etc. In my mind it seem like making a one tune fits all is not feasible with all the computer controls, learning and variances in the tolerance ranges. It is great for the VAST majority but makes your job much harder for the problem trucks . Your ability to offer individual tunes for trucks is key for problem and modified trucks via the data collection tool you have planned for all to be pleased .
For the average truck that was made in the midpoint of the engineering tolerances the tunes , the 1.04 tune is AWSOME . I and my friend cannot wait to see what is instore for the 1.05 . Thanks Matt . @OVTune .

you only NEED to update if your ECU is 04B00 or 04B01. I suspect though toyota will do a lot of silent updates to 04B04 when people go in for routine maintenance. So updating to 04B04 tune will be easy for them, simply download those files. I've also considered having the software setup to just put everyone on 04B04, and that is still a possibility. (excluding 2018)
IF the dealership does update to 04B04, you cannot go backwards.
1.03, 1.04 are versions of the tune. I could release any version on any ECU ID.
I have 1.04 planned already for 04B04. Not sure about 1.03.

Customized tuning is still planned for trucks that need or want it. Toyota's latest TSB was a kink in the chain a bit, as I was getting close to doing that until 04B04 came out.

@OVTune What do you mean by this ? Toyota downloads those files , or Ovtune users download this to OVtune ? Or do you mean Toyota uploads files to the truck at routine maint. visits.
