is a 2.5 lift possible with chevy leaf replacements? I found out that what the procomp block is with the 6" kits.

Yes. I got around 2 1/4 with just one chevy leaf. From center of hub to bottom of flare I'm right at 24 1/4"s.

Yep! These are mostly my notes from reading this thread. Along with picture interpretation and the aal install guide.

    4WD and others with experience,
I found a decent Chevy 3/4 ton 9 leaf pack set with 2 leafs from factory at 40" and 33". Would it be to rough of a ride to add 40" and drop the overload?

    Meaning:
    Toyota main
    Toyota secondary
    Donor 40
    Donor 33
    Donor 26
    No overload

Or would the 40" give me a harsh ride unloaded.
I appreciate any feedback that can be provided.
    David

Well sir first off Welcome to TW & I'm honored that your first post is in this thread... You def. have a grip on the process, theres just a couple of clarifications/adjustments, where ever I've mentioned 2.5" wide needs to use 2 &3/8" inch as the target width , although theres been some deviation in every leafpack I've had my hands on. So new rule of thumb is Whatever leaf is used from whatever vehicle, try to keep as close as possible to the stock leaf width as you can, a little over is ok but shy away from using any leafs narrower...

Yeah the middle spring thing isn't etched in stone, getting the best leafs out of the donor pack is the key...

Ok, your cut lengths sound ballpark (which is fine)

There again, depending which application of this MOD someone does, you can just measure & cut for anything below the secondary spring (asymetrically ) Measure 3.5" from the spring clamp on the secondary, this is where the donor leaf ends STARTS, now measure from THAT mark to the centerpin, now multiply that number x2 & thats the finished length of the 1st donor, from there you just take 3.5" off each end of each additional donor...

The other method is stripping it to the main & building just off it..A little more thinking & work for sure but doing it this way you can "tune" your springs just about a million ways as far as lift/travel/rate, nice & flexy but firm like a crawler, or a more rigid pack for higher impact hits (Long travel)....

Leaf pads, wheel borrow tire or bike inner tubes to cut to size. (Squeak relief)

HAHA ! everytime I see that in print I laugh & think about how hillbilly/redneck/some may even say "Ghetto"...

    it is:eek::eek:

But ya know what ?? They really hold up & after a day of bashing your shit on some trail all day, you may have a squeak but it wont be from springs, :D

2 3/8" was mention everywhere. I planned to shave 1/16 off each side at the ubolts giving me more options in the yard.

The rest makes a lot of sense.
    Thank you!
The leaf packs I picked are almost flat. Looking for minimal lift and more load capacity. Hoping 2 flat leafs will net me under 2" lift. I don't want to much rake.
Hoping to install them next weekend if its rises above freezing :yay: . I will post before and after pics if there is any interest.

I think I may have covered this before, honestly you're going to have a tough time just trying to hit 6" w/springs alone, 4" is the industry standard as far as I can find, going up over that I'd think longer shackles you might be able to squeeze another 1"-1.5" , but if you went to a longer main leaf it'd be easier to get to 6"

Ok so I have a question and don't shoot it down too quickly haha.

My dad and I are restoring a 65 mustang coupe and we took the rear and suspension out tonight and I couldn't help but notice the leaf springs. They are very similar in width but maybe a little bit thinner than my Tacoma. They also have a pretty good arc to them still. Would it be a terrible idea to try and incorporate these into my pack? I only ask because these would be free. Since they are thinner I was thinking of maybe adding 3 leaves rather than 2 like the chevies. I will post a picture of the leafs tomorrow.

Hey, like I've said a few times in here , you can use any leaf off any vehicle for donors as long as they match up pretty much, go ahead & give it a shot...:)
