    Mod Update:

Followed @G.T.'s well written mod thread:
    A-Pillar RAM mount GPS/Phone holder

Works Great! I should have done this long ago, I highly recommend it.

    Notes:
    - These photos make it look close to the steering wheel, but it has plenty of clearance and I've yet to knock into it.

-My only complaint is unrelated to the mount itself but about the iPhone. If only the camera was on the opposite side of the phone. When recording in landscape orientation the dashboard clips the camera which makes it less awesome for capturing video.

Thanks Tara, that's a good idea. It's still something I want to do, just been low on the hit list. I'll have to test that method out on something and see how it goes. I didn't think clear nail polish was pliable like rubber cement, always thought that stuff was firm and would chip?

It's not pliable, but it might be easier to remove the layer of paint with minimal finesse. I'd try a VERY thin layer of rubber cement first though... easily removable. Test both first on a junk scrap...

Great idea with the foil! I need to do that to mine, I don't have a camp chef but I have a Coleman Triton InstaStart, picked it up this past weekend during their big sale https://www.rei.com/product/883483/coleman-triton-instastart-2-burner-stove

this is the exact setup I'm wanting to do.. mounted on a swingout as well. That will obviously be when I get a swingout.. but nonetheless..

Thanks! I'm a messy chef but also rather ocd about keeping things clean so we'll see how it works out.

Dem skidders be silent. Torqued down evenly, they fit like a glove.

The only downside I ran into is that I can no longer fit a dual jerry carrier and the LP tank. My options for extra fuel storage are low so I've decided to bite the bullet on 2x 4gal rotopax for the roof rack. However I can run a single jerry can carrier along side the LP tank which will likely be used for potable water or even more fuel depending on the outing.

hahahaha.. thats literally the same thing I'm doing! Nice.. interested to see how you like it. I actually picked up one water 4 gallon at the Overland Expo last weekend. have the rotopax mount, gifted by another member.. its goin on the Prinsu.. thinking either 2 waters.. or a fuel with water on top. then tank on the swingout along with a fire extinguisher. already have the mount modeled.. aluminum..

hah! I hoped to stay away from rotopax due to the cost per volume but their slim profile is hard to beat for roof use. It should be a solid setup! Looking forward to see this aluminum mount. You're quickly making me want to jump professions to work somewhere with a mill, I'd never go home.

This month marks two years with this rig. It's been an amazing journey and I've learned more than I ever anticipated from all you guys. I don't have any kids of my own but one thing I can relate to those of you that do, they sure grow up fast. The journey is far from over, and the adventure has yet to begin.

Check out Expedition One. They are cheaper than rotopax.. And literally the same thing. Thats what I got at the expo.. for 50 bucks. They go for about 80 I think.

It is a perk of the job! Lol Definitely makes it easier to go in in the morning.

Can't say enough good things about the 180, it's overall the best shell I've owned. I was a bit skeptical with its looks at first but it has really grown on me. The extra space makes it way more useful for hauling things and if you camp in the back like myself you'll finally have some headroom. Plus it lines up pretty nice with a prinsu rack over the cab.

Just did some digging on those tanks, looks like they had to pull the red ones due to certification bs. But man, that's a much better price point. I wonder how big of an issue it would be running fuel in the black ones? I'd expect them to heat up faster causing expansion etc, but it's not like the red ones wouldn't do the same given a bit more time in the sun.

Fun career for sure, I was terrible at math in school so I fell off the product/automotive/aeronautical engineering routes that I was gunning for. Then decided to apply the same interest to the film/game industry. Still get to 3d model stuff and have quite a bit of artist control/design liberties. At the end of the day I still lack the feeling that my efforts went to anything 'real' if you know what I mean. I've been waiting for 3d printers to reach a plateau before I invest into one to tackle side projects... which includes building parts for a table top cnc.
