Not sure when this is coming out, but I want the Tacozilla. And it'll come with a manuel transmission !

The automaker's motorsports tech center in Texas is building an updated version of the pickup-based camper it collaborated with the Chinook RV company on in the 1970s that will be unveiled at the SEMA auto show in Las Vegas this November.

A rendering of the Tacoma-based vehicle depicts the modern styling that the team is going for, which director of operations Marty Schwerter said will provide the kind of clearance needed for off-roading.

The team has nicknamed the creation "Tacozilla" and it includes a compartment large enough for a six-foot two-inch person to stand in, a bed over the cab, a table, a kitchenette and a toilet.

It's being built on a Tacoma TRD Sport chassis with a manual transmission and the sketches depict it with a set of oversize all-terrain tires and heavy duty suspension.

That looks really cool. I can only imagine how much that would cost to build.

    These things I never understood.

I have my doubts that a 7000 pound, 10 foot tall, 8 foot wide bohemoth is in any way off-road capable.

No way that thing is sleeping further off grid than my pop-up camper is.

Cute throwback concept… but I have never understood the desire to take a dump INSIDE one’s vehicle. Sure it’s probably more comfortable, but now it smells like a porta-john and you’re driving around with a bucket/drawer/tank full of sh!t.

Too far away from a toilet because “adventure”? Poop in the woods.

This thing would have tipped over on some trails I've been down. If you ruin the lightweight, low center of gravity of the Taco, you're going to have a really bad time.

I do it all the time. I don’t Offroad mind you, nor do I have a garage. So there are some very uncomfortable eye contact moments with my neighbors…

It's probably gonna cost 200k+ and they couldn't put it on an OR or Pro chassis.

I'm guessing their target audience has no clue what a locker even is

Tundra can fit two toilets. I seen a Tundra that was being used to deliver portable toilets. Had two of them on a hitch mounted rack.

Here it is. This is my fathers. Bought it for $5,000 a few months back. It’s called a bandit. It’s mint. 1986 I believe with 80,000 miles. Not 4x4 though. We live in Florida and he takes it everywhere with his dogs.

I saw an overlander listed for 140k last week. So I think the price points are on target. I'm sure they are very nice, but who has the $$$ for those things?
