So how do i make this happen with the stock bulbs. Don’t want to do leds and resistors. Just want the turn and brake light to function as one, and keep the stock reverse light where it is.

Can I really just splice them together?

No. short of using the Tail-as-turn module, which I believe is made for LED, I think you would have to find/make your own solution. You can relocate one or more of the lights/functions by changing the wiring.

Ok, maybe the switch back in the reverse is a better solution. @mesojdm, ever make a harness or bulb adapter?

That is the solution the @NoOne is working out with @mesojdm :
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...rake-and-signals.471450/page-32#post-18759498

The nice part is that options are planned.

P-n-P with switchbacks. Or, a simple P-n-P harness to get the full "C." Maybe others?

I want to stay with standard bulbs to start with. Full "C" brake and tail, amber in the reverse spot, and a reverse light in the bumper. I'm starting with a single Rigid Ignite flush mount to the right of the plate. The Ignite is about 1.4in wide. I think that it will fit here:

    IMG_20180921_194436.jpg

It's hard to see, but there is a cut out in the metal part of the bumper where that 'price tag' label is. I think it is just big enough for the Ignite and will confirm that dimension tonight.

I think I recall someone had done exactly that. IIRC there was even a step by step of how they did the cut and mount. Might try a search for Rigid ignite to find it, I did but am not finding it right now. That may save you a bit of figuring it out.

    Thanks!

I remember seeing that on a 3rd Gen somewhere also, including a pic of the pattern at night. I searched and searched with no luck, so I started this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/back-up-light-installation-link-and-bs-thread.569289/

I got some good hints, including the recommendation for the Ignite but not the night time pic that I remember.

If the pattern isn't great, I will add two in the non-painted part of the bumper and wire the original up as an Aux light.

@tonered I am planning on using a pair of single row 6" LED bars, something like this

I have them sitting on my desk at home now, got flood pattern light and will be mounting them as reverse under the bumper. It may not be as "clean", but I am thinking with them under the bumper vs just above the step, there may be less problems with glare in the camera. Plus, I got them on a pop-up sale on the cheap and can replace them later if they are poor quality.

I don't mean to sound picky, but I don't want to do pods because I did clock the hitch once easing into a shallow ravine on a trail, while trying not to. The flush mount will take the worry away there.

I already have a bit of camera glare from the LED license plate lights. Not too bad, but it will be one of the things that I will look at.

Anything should throw better light than the original reverse bulbs which were pretty decent. One nice thing about the Ignite is that it draws less current than the reverse lights. No relay needed!

I bet you will like those pods. Talking with @NoOne , there will be enough wire to route to the hitch since there are some pod kits that mount there.

I get you. I don't off road, 4x2 Lmtd. So my biggest threats are speed bumps, chuck holes, and random not-so-smart-or-fast critters on the road.

My taco is my DD and "stuff" hauler. Since I got it in 2017 it has moved both daughters, building materials, as well as general items. Clearance is part of the reason I chose single row light bars. Bracket included the probably are 1.25 to 1.5", so pretty slim. The position I plan to use, where @KTJO 4x4 mounted the F-150 recovery points, is actually going to put the lowest point of the lights 3 or 4 inches higher than the bottom of the hitch, so there should be no clearance problems for my street queen.

My luck is that instead of hitting the hitch, the rock or ledge would take out a pod. Back in PA, the potholes were worse than trails. I can't imagine how bad it is these days.

You should be good to go with some great lighting in the back. I'm stoked for some good amber signals. The tails look nice, but the function is questionable when I follow other Tacos.

It sounds like your using yours as a truck! A kid at HomeDepot that was helping load a small shed kit asked, freaking ASKED, if he could get in the bed to pull. He said some folks don't like that. . .

Yeah, I agree. I wouldn't cut into painted parts either. Right after I posted, I saw you found the thread you were looking for, but i figured I'd leave it in case someone likes that option.

I'm definitely in for a plug n play kit. I was going to order the Diode Dynamics DIY kit a couple weeks ago but got busy with other stuff. I did talk to a guy there & they have no intention of a PNP kit for the Tacoma at this time. I would really like to see running, brake & turn using the full "C" with the reverse still in the factory location. Its sounding like this kit is going to have running & brake in the C with turn & reverse in the bottom chrome bucket?

I have this setup for the reverse lights and there isn't too much glare for the camera.
