I think your my Hero, what an awesome way to end a life time of working your ass off, I'm jealous. I'm also jealous that you have a women that loves you enough to go on such an epic journey, 3 years, wow. My other half would'nt last 3 weeks before she was up my ass about something. Seems to me your getting lots of good advice on your rig so I won't comment on that but please post your journey online so we can follow along while we stay behind. Good luck and happy trails.

I'd highly recommend putting some airbags in there as well. Made a huge difference in ride with our Tacoma + FWC. We're running Dakars + aal, with Firestone Ride Rite airbags combined with Daystar Cradles to keep the flex & not worry about tearing bags. Being able to have separate pressures has been clutch as our FWC has the kitchen + h20 tank on the driver side, so we can maintain a level ride. Not to mention just the weight support has been fantastic.

Sorry, brief threadjack (that fuel tank looks so awesome, btw!). @Not_Sure love your user name. Back in MO, my wife was into personalized plates and asked me what I would want on mine. I answered, "I'm not sure." So my smartass wife got me a plate that said NOT SHR. We love that movie, so I was fine with it.

Thanks. it's been a long wait, bed's off, and suspension's being replaced this week.

Anyone know where's a good place to sell the bed and tailgate?

Cruiser Brothers shop had at least 15 land cruisers, almost made me rethink a Tacoma. Here's another pic, wish I had taken a photo of some of the more interesting builds they had. Notice in the back is a white right-hand drive cruiser pickup from Australia

Good to know! Over the next 6 months we'll be testing it out on short outings and we'll watch for it.

What are the HD Dobinsons rated at? Constant load weight and lift?

Didn't know there was two options, was relying on Joe and Dana at Mule Expedition Outfitters out of Issaquah, WA. They use Dobinson's on their Chevy Colorado with the same flatbed and 4wd camper

Sounds like there's two options; L59-111-R - 4+2 Leaves, Raised Height (55mm Lift, 2.1"), Heavy Duty, 280KG constant load

or L59-112-R - 5+1 Leaves, Raised Height (55mm Lift, 2.1"), Super Heavy Duty, 400-550KG constant load

    I'm asking them, stay tuned...

You can maybe get the 50k, those fine KO2's are superb, but it's at the expense of increased incidence of punctures which are more likely & less fun the farther you get off the beaten track. Since I started retiring tires at 25k about 5 years ago, I haven't had a single screw or nail puncture or other failure. Seems worth it to me.
BTW: that big new fuel tank looks great!

Cool! I'm hoping the load E rating will resist punctures but we'll find out. Either way we'll be carrying an ARB tire repair kit.

Here's a cool photo, 120 miles after fill up with the fuel gauge still above full! The only thing i've noticed now is that the distance to empty is about 50% too short, oh well
