The Epic Wy/Co meet picture thread!!

I have a slider in elements in the exposure tab (forget what its named) that pulls in the histogram from the right. In other words, it reduces highlights. I like to use it but if I go to far with that adjustment, objects surrounded by certain blue skies (depends on the angle of the light) will get a type of glowing edge. It is a white edge that comes out of the abject and seperates it from the blue sky. A very subtle "halo" effect.

Chromatic aberration (purple fringe) is from the lens, not from post processing. Altho post proc might make it more noticeable.

 

If it is a purple edge, then maybe the lens but if the edge is what I'm thinking about, it is not the lens, it is post proc.

It is interesting how our 1st shots are quite similar and our 2nd shots are very different.

I'd really like to see this (IMG_0760) pic on my setup. If you think about it, bring a copy of the raw (.cr2) file when you come over next month. It would be cool to play with when you are there so you can get a sense of comparo with your setup.

that said though..i will probably make a feeler thread to see if anyone wants to come up and actually can in late july for some of these trails as they are so close to me.

But won't be a big 2 week trip like this again.

 

I'll definitely be hitting the Goose Lake trail again this coming summer. This time spending 2 or 3 days up near the lake or in that general area. Who's game?

 

that is a very very long drive to spend some time by a lake...

 

Keep me posted man. You know i live right there so i'd be down most likely. Ill be going back there a few times this year probably.

 

I'll be up in Montana and Wyoming anyways again for about 7 or 8 weeks

Well bummer! I was getting my rig outfitted for some good dirt roading, sad I wasn't ready this past summer. I'm planning to head that way end of July for some dirt roads and to visit a friend in Bozeman. Maybe I'll just have to hit y'all up for some beta. Your pics in this thread leave me inspired and truthfully drooling. Will there possibly be a MT trip planned? Maybe not a three legged epic trip?

For instance when is the best time to go visit southern Montana and northern Wyoming (Tetons)?

 

No idea about a MT trip either. Lisa does those..rather anally..but she makes meets. Usually has a few every summer.

If you just let me know id be happy to try and meet you and do some of these trails.

Wouldn't call them dirt roads..haha Goose Lake is rocky..and has one area that is a bit tricky but not horrible and has no by pass.

Lander trails are NOT dirt roads..very rock..Shoshone is basically only rocks for a majority..haha

But yea we could do something if your out this way, take you to the Big Horns too maybe.

Just let us know. We have a Wy BS thread we all hand out in regularly and would be happy to try and work out the timing somehow.

Those are dirt roads..but man..very fun and beautiful area. You could take on of the two from ID to MT or MT to ID..which ever. That was a fun trip too.
