The SR does indeed have a tire pressure monitor.. it is a simple dash light that illuminates when any of the tires are low on air. It doesn't tell you the PSI of each or which is low.

Its really for things like dirt road driving or off-roading, you can see a tire loosing pressure right away and stop before you break the bead or tear up the side wall. Saved my dads tires when driving on some shale roads in maine.

I think it's more useful for monitoring tire pressure while driving, just in case if something punctures the tire and slowly leaking, you can catch it in the act

I'm pretty sure an SR trim TPMS dash light would come on in that scenario.

it does, but only if it's WAY too low, like 25 PSI or lower. I drive at 35psi, and I know something's up if it's at 30psi, normally I'd find some nail lodged in it and get the tire patched before the yellow light even got triggered

Yeah... the wife and kiddo are the only ones who want running boards, and there's no way in hell I'm paying $700 for limited options. Amazon has decent selections for under $300

That certainly explains why I am cornfused... thank you!

Doesn't come on till its to late some times don't know the exact pressure when it aluminates. But you can tell right away when 3 tires are at 35 and one is at 31 that something is wrong and stop right away. Plus continuing to drive on the slow leak till the light comes on will make it worse.

New? I wasn't aware that ANYONE was getting a Tacoma under MSRP back in February.

A few months back I had several dealers tell me more or less, I can order anything you want, I just cant guarantee you will get it before you retire in 3 years. I ended up with an SR, I wouldnt trade it right now.

I went with SR5 for nostalgia reasons. I needed another "SR5" from Toyota, after many happy memories the first time around in the late '80s
    extremely satisfied

    Power Driver Seat
    Alloy Wheels
    Power rear window

The SR and SR5 have the same drivetrain options, so it's really just the 'nice' to have things.
Functional things like fog lights, cruise control, etc.
Comfort things like lighted mirrors in the visors, Sirus Xm, etc.
And if you get the SR5 appearance package, alloy wheels, fender flares, etc.
For me, I like having all the extras. I have an OffRoad, but given these 2 choices I would opt for the SR5 over the SR.

on my SR utility package i have cruise control could have srius/Xm if willing to pay for it
wish I did pay the extra $1,000 to $2000 for 4wd
I am adding in the factory fog lights this month and in the next month fancier wheels and shortly the fenders...
the after market accessories and mods products had more choices in the looks

I don't know the options between the SR and SR5 now but I think when I was shopping a couple of years ago the SR had everything I needed. But the SR5 had some of the extras I wanted and it was just easier to go ahead and get that all in one package.

But I agree with others. If your FIL is already extremely controlling I'd personally not take his money which would give him something to hold over you.
