If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
So, this thread inevitably turned into an ABS pro/con debate?

    A couple questions:

Couldn't a SPST on/off switch be used? It seems like the switch just functions as a circuit breaker. Not sure why it needs to be grounded

I put a post on the YWM thread too, but just wondering why these 2 mods can't be done together (yellow wire mod / ABS killswitch).

Any insight from the gurus would be helpful.

I have a SPDT switch on mine, like the op has... In my truck the wire needs to be grounded to trick the computer, just unplugging it doesn't work for me.

Okay, that's not a big deal. I was just curious more than anything.

Do you know about doing the YWM (Yellow Wire Mod) in addition to the ABS Kill?

I have a sport and used the method where you cut the wire at the abs motor and run both of them to the switch..much easier. only have to cut one wire.

I don't quite understand what you mean; does the method you're talking about enable TRAC in 4LO as well?

Here's the setup that I would like to have:

    • ABS-Kill for 2Hi & 4Hi

    • TRAC enabled in 4LO (automatically enabled in 4Hi, unless manually overridden by holding the VSC button)

Whoever comes up with a permanent fix for the ABS kill is gonna be a millionare .
Market the product as plug and play and your a rich man.
If all Tacoma ABS systems work similar to my 2010 in the snow and ice , its only a matter of time before one of us finds out the hard way .Now place your family in one of these trucks during a snow storm and needing to come to a stop rather quick or make a corner?

For now , I have my fuse removed and live with the light on .
If you live anywhere near snow , please pluck that fuse out !!!!
Driving for 30 years in extreme winter weather and never had an issue until now .

I can cut the wires but for those who find the wiring mod difficult ,wouldnt it be great for a plug and play by-pass ?
I have the electrical background but dont have time .
Hopefully someone comes up with something plug and play .
This would be an opportunity for one of our fellow TW members to save a few lives .:amen:

    *UPDATE*

So I successfully did the ABS kill mod, and the Yellow-Wire mod on my '11 Sport (no-locker & VSC/TRAC equipped).

Thanks to Milowilli for pointing me in the right direction. Cut the Light Green wire, and connect it to a SPST On-Off switch. No grounding necessary EASY!!!

I took some pics, and will incorporate a more detailed description in the thread I started while I was researching how to do both mods (ABS Kill / YWM).

    Oh boy...
I finally figured out why that is... for you... You drive an automatic am i right? if so than i have determined that the 6 speed i have has something about it maybe a safety precaution to save the clutch or something inside the ecu. but Automatic Tacomas can hold the brake and accelerator and roast their tires for days. But for a standard the second i pop the clutch and hold the breaks my engine boggs out as if it has an engine limiter in the system somewhere.

if i were to just pop the clutch and not hold the breaks the ABS kicks in the second my tires loose traction and kicks my ass for trying. AND when i hold the VSC switch for 5 seconds the auto LSD feature works but it wont work if the vehicle is rolling.... this switch gives me that extra oomph for the meantime.

IF anyone else has any extra information on this id like to hear about it. so far i dont think anyone else has said anything about this.
