Careful! I'm not sure you'd ever be prosecuted for it, but I'm sure a lawyer could construe this as "boobytrapping" which is illegal. You'd hate to get sued for protecting your property.

Unlikely, I suppose, but food for thought.

Booby trap? No sir, it's modern art! Plus it would make identifying the perp pretty easy.

honestly it's not even remotely as sharp as it looks. It's really just a deterrent. Even if someone did shove an arm up there it wouldn't do much other than scratch. Plus you can see the wire sticking up from a mile away.

How would you rate the security hardware. I'm looking at adding them to my order, but, for $60, I'm kind of worried they're a little frail, especially since those bolts are going to take some stress from those plates getting used in the trail.

I my opinion it’s pretty solid hardware, and mine where stainless or coated with something as a magnet would not stick.

Yes, just saw it on your site yesterday. I'll get the cat shield first as it'll be the very first mod I do and then pick up the skid when I have the funds.

I know you're selling it as raw aluminum. Can aluminum be painted like steel? anything one would need to know when it comes to painting or powder coating aluminum?

The aluminum can be painted. In the past I have treated it the same as any other metal project, but I could be wrong.

Looking to potentially buy Talon's version. How important do people think the $60 security bolts are to the deal? It pushes to $ to over $400 and other manufacturers include theirs (and yes I know Talon's is 1/4" which is why I am leaning that way.

Do you think a thief will see the shield and just move on, or do you think they would crawl underneath, look to see if the hardware was security resistant or not, then take the time to find the right tool to remove the mounting hardware?

I think that if they think they're being unobserved, they will use a pry bar to defeat armor. Or use selective cuts with an angle grinder to help defeat the shield with a pry bar.

No chance. There’s no trick here. It’s overt protection much like barbed wire fence around a property.

I bought them...but I don't think you really need them. As long as the bolts are secure, unscrewing them requires time because they all have to come off to get to the CATs. Don't lose the adapter, otherwise it will cost you another $60. So...buy 2 adapters from the get-go!

10 bolts will have to come off!

A lot of police departments are suggesting people spray paint their cats (the more obnoxious color the better, haha) and etch or scrape your VIN or license plate # into it to deter theft. Makes it harder to sell the stolen cat to a scrap yard (because it’s much harder for them to re-sell it) when it’s that obvious its stolen. Seems like the best idea to me short of plates.

Is there a promo code for first responders to use for @Talon2006 catalytic converter protection plate? Trying to save a little bit of $$$.

So i bought one from Talons Garage last week and it already arrived!
Installed it (and an aftermarket TRD plate) tonight and I'm pretty happy with it... I did buy the security hardware, but, only used 1/2 of them (1 security bolt and one regular bolt on the support arms - mainly just in case i ever have problems removing them or losing the driver... less to have to cut off).
No, it's not necessarily theft proof, but, IMHO, it's more than enough to deter someone and hopefully encourage them to move on to the next one). Plus, I actually see it having true skid plate properties. Thanks @Talon2006 for walking me through my fitment concerns and @19cement4xor for your video and answers. 20220425_153840.jpg 20220425_185914.jpg
