    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...le-body-butterfly-repaired-by-maxbore.479914/

So, I stumbled upon this post. I have been at my wits end trying to figure out my high idle/hesitation issue. I’ve replaced the IAC, TPS (adjusted to factory spec) and MAF, also cleaned the throttle body but, to no avail.
(Edit: I have also changed every vacuum line)

This is a picture of my butterfly valve. The idle screw is all the way out and it seems to have a big gap around the valve. Doesn’t seem to be lining up right.

My question is, do you guys think I need to send this to the Maxbore guy, to get it re-bored? I feel it’s the problem but don’t want to spend any more dollars, if I don’t need to.

Is there an air gap in yours without vacuum? I just got mine back and it looks like yours has the same tag. I don’t want to over correct the dashpot if that’s normal

too much gap. It's letting extra air in. The butterfly doesnt look centered. Either they put the wrong butterfly on or they fucked up the machining.

5vz. I’ve replaced every module and then sent it off for rebore. I got it back and I backed off the rear dashpot set screw and it closes fine. Haven’t reinstalled it but I don’t want to correct something that doesn’t need correction

I bought a used throttle body for 75.00 that I sent in to be rebuilt, because the turn around was going to be 3 weeks possibly 4 weeks as he was busy.
That tag was from the salvage yard if I remember correctly and was an order number
Now I have 2 throttle bodies

I'm having just idle issues. My truck surges from 500-900 RPM. Cleaning it usually fixes the problem but if I were to ship my TB to Max Bore. Will this fix my idle issue indefinitely?

This is more of a performance mod. I would consider removing the IAC doing a thorough cleaning and possibly replacing the IAC

No, not really, what happens over time with the 1st gen throttle body is the wall of the throttle body
will get wear from butterfly matches up.
This small wear on the wall lets air pass and the idle will increase because more air
    is passing.
So the throttle body is bored out so it’s perfectly round again and a new larger butterfly
is cut to fit nice a tight. Yes the bore is larger (but just a little) and no really noticeable power, maybe a hair,
Yes a good cleaning should be done 1st tho, but if you see a large gap or the wall
is not perfectly rounded or grove where the butterfly lines up that’s your problem

Interesting... I guess I shouldn’t be chiming in on a truck I don’t own lol. Out of curiosity what causes it? Does the butter fly come loose? Or they are too large from factory?

    Actually neither,
It’s the throttle body metal that fails and gets worn and extra air passes so the idle goes up.
Maybe the wear is from the butterfly moving back and forth from the bushings failing that hold the
    butterfly shaft
