I seen some threads that said you'd have to drive a few miles for it to turn off after reset. And also in the manual, I couldn't find how to reset it. I had to look online

The stock tires were set between 29 and 32 PSI. If the sidewall of your tires say 44 PSI for Max Loading, then you should be running in the low 30's. Do the chaulk test to determine the correct pressure for your tires (draw a chaulk line across the tire, drive a short distance and see where it's worn off. If worn off on the edges only, then too little pressure, if only worn in the middle then too much pressure).

Well if I said it then it must be true :D I'll have to check the manual on how to properly reset the light but I think it's just holding the button, wait for the flashes and you're good to go. Driving a little bit helps warm the tires and if you have a TPMS light on in the winter, driving can make it go away because as the tire warms, the pressure rises slightly.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Toyotas come from the factory with the tires overinflated(55-60PSI). This prevents flat spots on the tires and shuts off the transmitters on the sensors in the tires.
Any time there is an excessive tire pressure differential from the set pressure, the TPMS warning light will illuminate.
Set 5 tires to door spec, ign on while holding reset button, wait for 3 flashes of the TMPS light, light goes out, you're done!

On an 07 you wont have to drive it to make the light go off at all. Just take it to the air pump and ensure that they are all inflated to what it says on the tire. As long as the pressure is above what it says for stock tires you wont have a problem. I have an 07 and every time my TPMS comes on it has always been the spare. Try filling up the spare and if it doesn't go off make a trip to discount or the dealer and they will be able to tell you if there is a problem. Always go to discount before you go to the dealer since they normally do not charge like the dealer does.

not sure about tacomas but i know that over inflated tires will set it. had four tires mounted and balanced on my wifes car... later that day i move her car out of the garage and her light is on. i checked the psi.. 2 set at 52 and 2 at 60...and this was from a tire shop! her tires should be at 32. i called the place and lost my mind on them then let out the pressure to normal. no more light.

I am wondering if the system is set with a minimum and maximum air pressure. I am really old school and am used to checking my pressure with a pressure gage, not having a computer tell me that my tires are low.

yea same here my tpms is on right now and i filled all 4 up to 40psi reset the sensors and filled up the spare to 29psi but im scared to put anymore air in it cause its so hard with air the tire doesnt flex any when i press it, and i checked the spare and i dont know where the sensor would be cause theres nothing going to the inside of the spare tire to determine if the pressures low

OP did you ever figure out what the issue was? Was it the spare? I keep my tires just around 32psi along with the spare. Every couple of years my TPMS light will come on cause its always from the spare. I'm sure with the spare just sitting there for a long period of time and with the weather conditions I live in with blazing summers, freezing winters and everything in between, the tires are going to lose air sooner or later. I just refill the spare back to 32, hit the set button and then it shuts off, I never had to drive around for it to reset.

No, I haven't. When I took her in for an oil change they said the light will keep coming on cause the weather is getting colder.

It's the spare. Mine did the same thing on my 07. Fill your spare.

Yep...same thing happens with my 07. I think the tires heat up after driving and the spare stays cold resulting in a psi difference. To get the tpms light there needs to be a difference of 20-25% which ends up being around 8psi. I could be wrong here but I thought I read once where someone mentioned they add more pressure (like around 4-6 psi) to the spare during the winter to help keep the light from coming on as often.

Same issue... hope this fix helps. the tire shop inflated the tires including the spare. Since the light was still on and will not reset..
Tire Guy proceeded to recalibrate each tire using some kind of gadget reader... and attached a cord that went under the left side of the driver steering wheel.. It reset the sensors with the correct tire pressure so the computer can read it. Light went away
