I think that's likely a typo. Someone must have done a copy'n'paste and didn't remove "hood scoop" from the list for OR.
    Where is this from?

I agree its probably a typo. Thats right from the product info. There was a thread on here where i downloaded the tech specs and product info.

That says it's not available on the or and it's standard on the sport.

    The more you know :)

Read it a little closer. "Hood scoop" is in the standard list for the OR.

The scope is popular. Maybe it isn't a typo.

Non functional hood scoop? No thanks. If it does come on the OR I'll be cancelling my order pronto. But I doubt it since all the publicity shots of the OR didn't have one.

I dont think it will be on the OR, it lists it as standard on the product info, but not the technical specs... and everything else points to the hs on the sport only.. i just thought that was odd when i saw it.

I agree. That was a good catch.
I went back and looked at the docs TFL posted which I assume Toyota gave them.
This one shows exactly what you posted above http://www.tfltruck.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/2016-toyota-Tacoma-Product-Info.pdf
This one khas the same sheet but looks more official and shows what I would expect, plus elsewhere in the doc has the verbiage of "Trademark TRD Sport hood scoop" http://www.tfltruck.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/2016-toyota-Tacoma-Technical-specs.pdf
So I'm confident the Sport will be the only one with the scoop treatment.

Wouldn't mind having a hood scoop on the OR. My personal perference would be a OR with color keyed fender flares, bumper, mirrors, and a hood scoop. Or the locking diff on a sport. Maybe I buy a OR and someone with a MGM sport will be willing to trade.

Hasn't anyone in TW made the hood functional. Maybe ran some vent tube to the airbox?

When you open it up hot air is able to escape the engine bay. And there is a Cai for 2nd Gen pre facelift that makes it kinda functional.....not really...

The way air moves over the hood places the scoop in a low airflow zone, iirc so not like a subaru scoop functional.

Parts catalog only lists hood scoop for TRD Sport, as suspected and just like it was on the 2015.

    :)

The scoop can let hot air out while at speed? I think it would need to be pointing backwards for that to happen. And then the windscreen will make a positive pressure and not let anything out. I can see that it would let hot air out when stopped.

When you're stopped or at low speed.

If it's a low enough pressure zone at the scoop hot air will rise out until it catches the wind off your hood/grill. Then the hot air will be blown away.

That's my take on it. Just depends on how much pressure actually makes it into the scoop when moving :notsure:

    No mods whatsoever!
Hopefully the new models aren't using the stick-on hood scoops from the XSP-X models. :der:

That's not what a scoop is for
