no because how many fair honest dealers are out there. What are they going to do to prove whether or not you need it? Id tell them your truck does not carry even close to the capacity stated in the sales flyer.

Yeah no, it doesn't work that way. May want to report that one to the Toyota headquarters.

I used to work for Nissan at the dealership, and if we perform a tsb on a car or a truck, and it doesnt need it, we the dealership eats the cost. Never the customers. Thats bad business... Matter of fact, the service manager at Toyota of Greenville replaced my wifes cat converter on our 03 toyota matrix even though i was 10,000 miles out of warrenty. The cat alone was 1100 dollars... and 2 hours of labor...

Dude, that is wrong!! TSB's are free, NOT EVEN A PENNY SHOULD COME OUT OF YOUR POCKET!! DAMMM that dealership, Don't waste your gas looking for another dealership, yet!! Call Toyota 1-800# and tell them about what they said and go from there. They should do it, when and only when you have done everything possible, go down the street to the other stealership. Wait, did you try talking to another guy from that dealership that might be smarter from the first guy you spoke to?? try that also, don't give up man post to let us know what happened!!

I wouldn't let these folks touch my truck... ever. I agree with reporting this to Toyota Customer Care but after beating this dealership over the head with Corporate I'd wouldn't let them wash my truck, much less work on the suspension.

It is only covered under the 3yr/36k mile warranty, but some people have gotten it approved after that which is strickly up the the dealer to get approval or they can simply deny it.
As for if you need it....do you haul loads close to the payload or tow frequently? Have you had a problem with the truck bottoming out under normal or loaded driving conditions?

    Technical Service Bulletin
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/new-members/7109-rear-spring-tailgate-tsb-quick-reference.html
Basically....It is when many people complain about an issue with their vehicle and the company decides to acknowledge a problem and provide a fix to those who want it, but it is not determined to be a safety issue therefore is not a recall and they are not required to fix it.
