Long vacuum hose to ear, probing around the engine with the other end like a stethoscope. See if you can pin point it.

Do you use a 20 weight oil or a 30? I cannot remember.

Not turbo related but I thought I would ask the guys that know.

Was there any differences or changes in the 2tr from 2005 to 2015?

I just picked up an 05 access cab for $1000. It has a blown head gasket. I also go a line on a 2015 motor with 57,000 miles that I want to swap in it.

Just want to make sure I’m. Not over looking something.

Both are single VVT-I. The newer may have an EGR or SAIS. Not sure.

The only thing that might have changed is the VVT. They're dual VVT now, and I think the change happened with the 2015 MY. I can't find reference to it in any of the online literature that Toyota released at the time though.

    The 2TR-FE always had SAIS.

Limited knowledge on my behalf of the 2TR. I do know that my friend has a 2015, which still retains the single VVT-I. Looks like we narrowed it all down for him.

I need to find a deal like that. Everytime I look online for a used engine to rebuild and use for mockup, the cheap ones are twice that.

Can someone tell me or send a good pic of their vaccum lines on 3.4 turbo. I'm getting oil blow by and want to re-route. What's best for these? Mainly the 4 bigger in the combined pics20190703_124646.jpg 20190703_124608.jpg 20190703_124559.jpg

I have copied 2 dynos from OV Tunes 3rd gen thread but he has a lot more on the first page of that thread. HP Tuners has produced a better tune for the 2nd gen trucks while OV Tunes has made a better tune for 3rd gen trucks. The reason is pretty obvious since OV has sold over 2000 kits for the 3rd gen trucks and less than 100 kits for 2nd gen trucks so he knows where his bills are paid. I got my tune last year and have already accumulated 14 tunes on my computer any of which I can flash my ECU with at any time. Now I am on the 93 octane performance tune which increases the red line to 6800 RPM. He also will be releasing 3 supercharger kits and 3 turbo kits in the near future one of which I plan on getting but have not decided which yet. Hope this helps.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
Brake booster has a check valve; I left it stock.

Fuel pressure regulator vacuum should be kept stock.

There is a breather on block by the firewall that is connected to the resonator box on your stock intake. I put a breather filter and a one way check valve on it to only allow air to enter the block.

I routed the fuel Evap line and PCV to a Y connector into my catch can which can be vented (it will stink; no more fresh cabin air for you) or can be connected to your intake.
-If you connect your catch can post turbo, when the intake has positive pressure, that will block back to your block and evap. The PCV is a one-way valve but the evap isn't. Putting a check valve on the line will protect the evap but the big issue here is positive pressure built in your block is much higher during high loads, especially when you are under boost and that pressure needs to be able to escape or you may blow engine seals.
-If you connect your catch can pre turbo you need to make sure the catch can is extremely effective in cleaning the air so it doesn't gunk up your turbo and MAF.

**Best way to mount your catch can is run it to a vacuum fitting on your exhaust as was discussed a few pages back. I haven't done this yet**

Still confused. You got a pic of your engine bay? There's a bunch. And Gio is running his way different now. We had originally tied in two lines to a filter. It's been spitting mad oil out of it. Put in catch can now and I put a T fitting tied in to the oil fill cap so any extra oil goes back to fill. Kinda ugly but I need to find the best method for these hoses and valves. I'm afraid something on mine is way wrong.

I'll see want I can do. I'd be careful about draining the catch can too the oil pan. Positive crank pressure is in the oil pan and this will break your PCV system.
