I bet my T100 could fit 6. Tons of room for activities under the hood.

Does ample amount of money come with the challenge?

If I still have the truck and have the cash someday I'd like to put twins in it. I'm not really sure what it is about that truck but I like it as my daily/work truck. I'm impressed with how much better it handles weight than a first gen taco. It just lacks power and the auto trans is only a small step up from a 3rd gens.

Who has the 5VZ with the turbo that is routed directly to the TB? I think there was a picture posted in here. I'm thinking about removing my IC.

Just saw the NetFlix with him in it. Crazy story, seems like an awesome guy.

I need to hunt it down but there is a thread out there somewhere where I saw a guy with a 5vz turbo setup where the IC was mounted up high in teh front vs. the CXracing mounting down low- so low you can't run the skid plate or an aftermarket bumper. Is that why you are going IC'less, its in the way?

    * Ninja edit, here is the thread
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/if-i-keep-it-ill-have-to-upgrade-turbo.618938/#post-21078281

He fixed what is my big apprehension of installing the CX kit, the low mounted IC.

To run an IC in the grill, I would have to re-route the AC hard lines. Where its currently mounted, its obstructed by the bumper and next to useless. The extra charge pipes aren't worth it IMO.

Have you considered an air to water setup? It's extra weight and a little more complex but water is more efficient at pulling away heat than air. Usually less charge pipe too.

    I have.

I'm not sold any which way, I'm just curious how the Turbo was routed to the intake. Its not too difficult; may a 60* from the intake and a 100* bend from the turbo, but the turbo outlet is 2.5" and the TB is closer to 2.75". I'm not sure how three off the shelf pieces can make that direct connection or how well the MAF handles that short stroke of air.

I cringe at non-intercooled. One thing I hate about my TRD S/C (5vz) and having a pingy motor. Granted Turbos are more efficient, it doesn't matter, compression air will get hot, period.

Isn't water to air for racecars. Ice bags and such? I imagine in a daily the water box would heat up pretty quick. But I may be wrong.

Lots of street setups with water/air- 2nd gen TRD setups, various S2000 S/C setups, I'm sure lots of other examples.

Another radiator is installed. As long as air is moving past it things should remain close to ambient temperature. I think the old celicas used them.

I've never seen anything to suggest the 5VZ is a "pingy" motor. The 5VZ has a reputation for "4th gear knock" because the TRD S/C had terrible volumetric efficiency.

Given that I'm not going to run boost over 6-8 PSI and I'm able to monitor air intake temperatures (unlike the TRD blower which charged/heated the air post MAF -> i big issue as the ECU was measuring ambient intake temperatures and setting appropriate timings), I'm reasonably certain that risk is slim to none.

Yeah, you'll be fine with no IC at those levels. Not like you're at those levels for a few seconds at a time anyway.
