I did a quick search and didn't find anything (on this forum, at least :D) and wanted to see if anyone here had any recommendations for what they do to keep salt and road grime from coating the frame, axle, suspension components, etc... underneath of their truck.

I've seen online a product like this, which attaches to a pressure washer. I'm not sure if the intention would to be to use this with a soap container in between or if just water pressure is enough considering most folks probably never clean underneath of their vehicle.

I'm looking to pick up an electric PW, a foam cannon, and something like this to get a head start on keeping my new Tacoma clean and long lasting. Would appreciate any tips/trick/advice/product recommendations you may have.

They just attach directly to the pressure washer gun. Most people will spray the undercarriage down with water and call it done. If you have access to a lift or can elevate the truck enough to get under it, you can spray it down with a degreaser (SuperClean is cheap and effective) and then rinse it again. If you don't have access to a lift but you want to do more than just water, get a tank sprayer or pump sprayer with an angled-tip wand. That should allow you to get decent (ish) coverage without needing put the truck on a lift. Will take longer and you'll need to crawl around to do it, but that's the nature of compromises.

Sorry, I was searching specifically in this detailing forum. Should have expanded it to the whole site.

I certainly can't provide as much information as @TacoGlenn above, but I recently saw someone using a normal yard sprinkler to clean underneath their vehicle. Just set it in a spot, and leave it, and then move it if you need to get another part. I can't comment on how effective it'll be vs. a power washer, but I'd imagine if you left it for 20min or so, you'd rinse a lot off.

In the Spring, after the winter road grime has cleared, I crawl around alongside the truck with a simple hose and hand nozzle. My goal is to flush out the heavy deposits and give a good rinse.

Allow a couple days for every thing to dry, then I go under to "detail" the bottom. I begin with a shop vac, fingers and screwdriver. I'm hunting for any missed deposits in nooks and crannies. When finished with the shop vac, I'll do a final wash down with the hose and nozzle.

Yes, I get wet doing this task. Just water and a bit of mud, it all washes off. Just need a warm day.

Even with such a gadget, there will be places that it will not reach or flush out.
