My Widowmaker training facility/driveway is 60' long with an average 23° slope. I've seen one truck in twelve years back up the thing, an early 2000s Dodge Ram 1500, but I'm wondering if my Tacoma could do it to ease loading and unloading without, I dunno, blowing up or something.

Interested in hearing a mechanic's take on this but if you just want to grief my driveway that's fine, too.

Slow and steady you'll be fine.

On a side note. I don't see how that can be up to code.

4lo. That's just about your only option. Heck, I don't think that would be fun even if we had 2lo.

Edit: Sorry. Somehow I read into it that you were talking about backing a trailer up there.

    2hi and some momentum?

My driveway is the same angle but twice the distance.

Back up mine every morning without issue.

Should be easy if you get rid of the ice. We have a ramp at work to the basement just as steep. Ice makes it interesting :D

Yeah I'd drop it in 4lo and crawl up it. Just don't make any sharp turns while in 4lo.

I would think so. There are a half-dozen driveways within walking distance that are worse than mine.

So when it's icy out, does your truck take the stairs too?

The problem is when you reverse up a hill your drive wheels are unweighted because of how your weight shifts and your contact patch has changed. You're going to have a lot of wheel spin unless you're in 4wd. You shouldn't need 4Low.

This all being said if your driveway has snow and ice, as clear as it is dry in the picture you should be able to make it up in 2wd just fine.

    IMHO.

    Maybe reverse is best!

Nope. It's like landing on an aircraft carrier up there. Worse yet with the motorcycle.
