Hell, I had a ton of strange qc issues with my 2015 rubi jku... one of the front crash bars wasn't centered, and made contact with the sway bar; when doing fenders I found a whole bunch of tape bunched up and just tossed behind it; underside of driver side rocker panel was rusting out (pitting and flaking stage) like it got totally missed in paint; and my favorite... while drilling holes for body armor (rivnuts), bit caught a piece of tape on the sheet metal that had just been painted over. This was all on top of the AC that kept leaking, and a funky transmission issue where it acted like it got stuck in neutral and the only way to get it to go again was to coast to the side of the road, turn it off, then back on.

And for some dumb reason I still kind of want to get a JL (not getting rid of my taco for one). Im a long time jeepers, but this, and all the reports I've seen of some catching on fire... not very confidence inspiring.

There are still welders who take pride in their work. You may not know any but I do. Granted they may not work for Jeep.

Well not necessarily so at least from my experience. Owned 8 different JK's from 2008 till 2016. Hoped quality would improve with every trade in but more and different problems with each year. Finally decided to end my era with Wranglers and buy a Tacoma. On the other hand, bought an 2017 Italy made Renegade 1.4L for my wife which has been totally recall and trouble free. Gets 37 mpg and we would certainly buy another one.

Toyota doesn't actually make the frames. They are trucked in from a supplier. I've been in both the San Antonio plant and the Baja plant. Seen with my own eyes. My guess is fiat does this too, it's cheaper.

For what that has cost Toyota I would hope they changed suppliers.

IIRC all first gen and most second gen tacos were not made in Japan.

Toyota has gone above and beyond what the big three have done for rusty frames.

I, too, only post statements. Both mundane and wildly incorrect, but not at the same time.

Sorry what I meant to say was small Toyota pick-ups not necessarily Tacomas

The first frame recall weren’t made in Japan and were Tacomas.

So.. I’d research more and throw out inaccuracies last. Someone eventually reads them and thinks they’re facts.

Looks like I was wrong. Not the first time. I thought the recall included the pre '95 trucks as well.
