All 1st gens Tacomas were made at the former plant in Fremont, CA. T4Rs were made in Japan, still are I think...

Think there were some gasket failures too. And the tailgate that would bend under weight.

Yes. My first gen is Californian. And my third gen is like me, Asian/white. Engine/drivetrain from japan, errthang else is from Texas. Not that all Texans are white but really you get what I’m saying

    Lol

That said, the JL track bar bracket is flimsy by design. Compare this against the FJ Cruiser rear track bar, which is integral to the crossmember:

That's a plus on the I4 side IMO. But if the 3.5 lasts like the 4.0, I'll be satisfied.

the jeep has two track bars, so it is equal to the fj in that the rears aren't falling off..... just the fronts! oh and not like there are not thousands of bad tacoma frames out there...... :spy:

    but yes, not cool!

^We don't really know how well the JL frames will fare with rust. Who's to say their coating/spraying robots are programmed better than their welding robots?

If you look at your frame, many of the robotic welds are ugly AF, but Toyota has reinforced most of the weld areas to account for it.

If you're talking rust, take a look at some mid-west Jeeps sometime. Body and frame with a lot less miles. The difference is Jeep owners think it's normal. o_O

Why? No snow, no road salt.
