This might be the dumbest question some of you have ever seen, but can you use a T tap for the ground wire?

Very happy with this location. I might go to magnetic mount though as getting the SD card in and out with tri-focals is tough. Don’t bother with wireless transfer it takes foreeeeeeeeeeeverrrrrr.

Just got the 12 pin USB adapter today and plugged the go pro in. Perfect. Now just waiting on the suction cup adjustable go pro mount so I'm not recording upside down. I dont know why the hell the stock go pro mount is where it is and the go pro hero can only go upside down. Dumb.

you know the gopro auto adjusts the video? you can record it upside down and it will flip it. pretty sure it works on all of them from the 3 and on.

I record with my 7 upside down all the time when i ride my bike.

id say get a dmm or something similar to ram mount the gopro. the suctions dont sound like a good permanent solution from what ive read

My 14 year old said guys on youtube ride and record upside down all the time and it edits to go right side up. Mine will not adjust or rotate with the 2 diff media players on my laptop. It's an older go pro hero ?

Can someone clue me in as to how to make proper use of a dashcam with GPS? Is there a player that displays a map along with the video? My videos are enormous, surely there's more to them than just the video.

No maps are included in the file. But you should be able to turn the GPS coordinates on or off. Video files are huge. Your dashcam probably creates a new file every minute, so you can only copy/transfer the minutes you need. Using a lower video resolution setting produces a smaller file size.

So would turning GPS off make the files smaller? Files are 5 minutes long and range in size from 550mb to 590mb.

might be an old gopro, but there are normally video options in many video players that let you rotate the screen as well.

gps would make the files smaller. i thought dash cams use them for for speed tracking than map tracking.

Which camera are you using, and what is the resolution setting? The GPS coordinate and the speed info in the file is just text on the image, and the difference in file size would be negligible with or without it.

I checked two Garmin 56 files that I already had on my computer from a couple of months ago. These are the file details for each. Each file is 1 minute length. The first is 180MB, the second is higher resolution and is 225MB. Turning off audio recording does make the file size somewhat smaller.

Is there a dashcam that easily mounts to the gopro mount? I'd prefer to utilize that even if it requires a little redneck engineering

Suction cup is not good. It’ll drop in due time. Go for something more secure that attaches to the rearview mirror

would this cam even be recommended for those with an older tacoma that doesn't have the rear view mirror plug ? i have a 2008, when did they start making these with the plug option? anyone here with a 2nd gen that went with this option? looking for a dash cam and the amount of variability in them is kind of overwhelming.
