I'm hoping this is where the stock block heater cord plugs into, as I really need one. It's right behind the drivers headlight. Any thoughts?20231001_221145.jpg

Well that's disappointing lol. I thought all Canadian Tacos came with a block heater, but I can't find one on mine. I'm half tempted to go back to the dealership where I bought the truck and demand they put one in free of charge because I'm pretty sure it's illegal to sell to a vehicle without one in this province.

I'd get that legality bit fimer than 'pretty sure' before 'demanding' anything.

You might have better results of you take the approach:

"I can't seem to find the block heater cord...

I was hoping you could help me out..."

    If needed:
"I was under the impression that all Canadian models were equipped..."

Going in demanding anything automatically sets the other party against doing anything to help you.

lol "demand." When someone "demands" something from me, that automatically starts the game of "How painful can I make your life and never fulfill your demand?" However, there are no rules to this game. Lying, cheating and stealing are all encouraged. Let the best man win, but it is a chess game. It would start with multiple visits to the shop with no conclusion. Then, we would take it in and keep it for days. After that, we would let you go home, but forget to plug something in. Then, we would find something wrong with your truck and make you pay for it.

However, if you had just came in and asked nicely, the game of "I will bend over backwards to help this customer begins!"

I am Canadian and always had a block up to the 90's. The engine of today with fuel injectors, synthetic oil start well in the cold weather of Canada so really no need for a block heater.

Maybe in most provinces, but it gets down to around -50C for days at a time. I also work from home so the truck could be sitting for a few days in those temps. I'd feel much better if I had a heater to plug in.

Where are you in Fort St-John, Dawson etc etc. I know I live up in Fort St-John in the 80's had a block heater still would not start unless I built a fire under the oil pan lol

Nope, no such law in Manitoba. Toyota may have included a standard dealer-installed accessory block heater as company policy in some years in your province, but that's subject to availability and any recalls at the time.

For 2020+ trucks, Toyota Canada also offers a combo block heater, battery tender, and interior aux heater system, all for the low, low price of $1200 plus installation. The dealer may push this on you if you set foot in the door.

Hmm that's pricey but an interior aux heater would be amazing. I might look into this in the future. Thanks!

Not sure where in Alberta but I lived Calgary for 5 years and don't remember having it that cold as we had so many Chinooks that the - 40 was not often enough for us. Still had a block heater in case back in the 80's just saying

I was stationed in upstate NY (Saratoga) back in the early 90s and used one of those dip stick heaters when it hit single digits or colder. And on those below zero nights, I would disconnect my battery and bring it inside. Upstate NY was a hunting and fishing paradise, but I sure don't miss those winters!

I live in the Northwest Territories at the 64th parallel. Tell me that I don’t need a block heater.

You definitely need a block heater in Winnipeg. With the wind chill, your weather is often colder than in the Arctic. I grew up in Brandon and don’t miss those winters.
