TL;DR: Made friend with old school welder in a run down shop who charged me half and will teach me how to weld for free.

Today I made quite the friend! I'm going wheeling tomorrow, so I wanted my BAMF CMC plates welded in for piece of mind, even though plenty of guys run it open. The shop I was originally going to have do it never called me back, so I swung by there yesterday only to find they're closed on Fridays. Whomp whomp.

I looked up other shops nearby, and came across one that had one review, called Rat Fab. Says they specialize in welding and motorcycle fabrication, so I figured I'd be in good hands. Swung by to find a run down looking shop that I questioned was even still in business. I wandered in and no one was around so I just kinda wandered around the shop announcing myself. Came across an old guy with a cane.

Long story short, his assistant did the work on my truck the next morning (today) and him and I chatted for a couple hours, then went and grabbed lunch. He's in his mid 70's and loved to talk, but his stories were great so I happily listened. He said if I ever want to learn how to weld, he'll happily teach me and I just pay for the supplies.

His assistant didn't clean up the welds on the second side because it started raining, and I could come back and use all his tools free of charge if I wanted to do it myself. Then he charged me $130 (2 hours) for a job that took closer to 3.5 hours.

They fit great, picked up all four at about $90. They offer a smooth version as well.

Bilstein 5100 all around, front set at 0 with OME 887. Light racing UCA. Dakar full pack in back. aluminum running boards. Scangauge II. Painted flat black rims. Raider canopy.
Lots been happening to my truck lately. Yesterday got my new headlights in. Before each side and after, much nicer. Just have to aim now they are way off.

Today started the front idler pulleys and tensioner. Out of the 4 bolts that hold the AC pump on the engine, the one that is screwed into the engine was cross threaded by Toyota and now I need to fix the hole and the bolt. But had the old tensioner out in 45 min so that's not bad. This is the bolt.

And a pic with the Idler out through the driver side wheel well.

I was way wrong about the price @Echodawg. He was nice and only charged me for two hours but it was a 3.5ish hour job. Cost me $140.

They don't let the tires stuff up in the wheel wells quite as much....but other than that. Still plenty of flex and give. Plus they don't let the leaf springs go flat every time you lay a #2 pencil in the bed

Full OME Kit (885s, Dakar Leaf Pack, Nitrochargers F + R)
Popped on my OME CB spacer kit, vibes around 55km/h are gone, and the shudder from a dead stop is very nearly gone but not totally. I want to remove the top overload leaf spring from my Dakar packs soon though (to get rid of some rake), so I'm banking on that solving the issue. And now I finally have my excuse to buy a torque wrench, haha.

Also popped on some AVS in-channel visors. I dig 'em, they look a bit cleaner than the kind you stick to the paint or whatever.

    AVS Vent Visor.jpg

Now I'm going to clean up and drive her over to the driving range to hit some balls, very badly. Haven't swung a club in at least 4 years. And then get to the car wash tomorrow!

Can anyone tell me who makes the switches that mount in the factory location? I'm looking for a DPDT momentary switch I can put next to my ATRAC button
