I think the only reason to put higher octane in would be in the higher mileage timeframes. They say that added stuff in there helps clean the valves and stuff. No idea if it actually works, but meh. I still use 87 currently at 146k

The knock threshold is increased so timing can be advanced when you run high-octane fuel. Ton of info here on TW from dudes way smarter than me, but it does make a difference, both in power and fuel economy, in the 1GR-FE.

A few mods here and there and counting....
Smog every other year with a visual inspection for emissions related stuff. Just no full vehicle inspections like some states. We'll see how i do when I'm up for smog later this year, but i don't see it being an issue unless i get some picky smog tech.

I've done many many engine rebuilds in tech school, in the military on boats and ships, and personally on vehicles. Nothing ever gets premium fuel just the cheapest stuff and they are all clean and never have fuel problems related to the fuel itself. Only thing I've ever put high tier fuel in was helicopters taking on JP5.

    Sadly, not much.
Installed Firestone ride rite + day star cradles. Did at DIY garage in Kirkland, WA (aka covid-19 epicenter). took 3 hours, but honestly well worth it. It felt good to be standing under the truck and getting a more comprehensive view of all the technology at work.
Air tools are are a plus and so is access to 450 tools. Air is holding, so far!

Higher octane is recommended for two reasons: It is refined cleaner, which means it does not gum up the lines, and burns cleaner in the engine allowing longer periods between oil changes, and the second is performance. Higher Octane means more energy in each combustion cycle. You may not notice a difference, but the engine will run more efficiently on a higher octane.

Edit: CON - Premium gas is expensive

Not here in NY, that premium fuel is sometimes an extra 60 cents a gallon

Seafoam is outdated and barely makes any difference. The newer additives include PEA which has been proven in real world testing as well as lab testing to actually help clean. Seafoam has an outdated formula that they developed for 2 stroke engines in the 70s.

I think some @CBoy808 custom bedsides and possibly badges (decals) would look good on your rig, matching your inserts and d-rings. Just a thought. Nice truck.

Personally, Gumout. Which for all I know could actually be made by the same people that make seafoam :notsure:.

But i do know it has a high amount of PEA, and testing has shown it cleans carbon rather well compared to seafoam.

Those videos showing seafoam blow white smoke out of the exhaust has been proven to be just the reaction of alcohol in the system. They tested it on a brand new engine with extremely clean parts, white smoke still came out of the exhaust. Basically shut seafoam up about "the white smoke proves the stuff is working"

Got some new bfg Krawlers put on. 37x12.50x17. rubs ALOT more than my old 35s but damn these things look good. Next week I'll finish up trimming what I rub on now and then test to see what I rub next.
