I like the bare look and light weight of the Baja/pr-runner style bumpers. But for protection from impact I'd go with Arb.

Arb is fugly as hell and doesn't really flow well with any trucks.. Plenty of better looking options that perform the same for impact, but have a sleaker design..

Ok, love this thread--very useful and informative.

So, looking around, I really want to add a bumper to my truck.

I have looked at the ARB, Elite and Shrockworks bumpers.

I do have a question--I know that the ARB bumpers will work with airbags, but will the other two?

    Thanks!

Possibly..it won't protect the radiator as well thats for sure. And most likely wont offer the same impact protection.

Yes i believe so..You'll have to confirm with Tim tho.

As for your choices. ARBs are classic! Heavy duty and square looking.

Shockworks was the first bumper i thought id get..but after reading about their terrible costumer service and long build times..i decided not to.

I own an Elite made by Tim, and LOVE it. Very stylish looking and they can take a beating like you wouldn't believe!...not to mention totally 100% customizable for however you want! Highly recommend this choice

There are two main factors in choosing a bumper.

    Function:
    1. What type of wheeling do you do? Do you run tight trails and need the full guard protection for trees and rocks? (My reason)
    2. Do you need the extra tubing to protect all the expensive off road lights you plan to add to?
    3. Do you live in an area with a lot of deer accidents?
    4. Do you run at speed with weight being a bigger concern?

    Looks:
    1. If you do not need the extra protection then I'm a big fan of the clean look on the 01-04's
    2. The center hoop flows well with the 01-04's and the full gaurd follows the square lines of the 98-00's plus it helps to hide the uglier front end. Either of the hoop versions looks good on the 95.5-97's.
    3. How aggresive of a look do you want? The more tubing the meaner they look. (The full guard looks like you just want to head butt something)

I love the look and function of the plate bumpers, especially Tim's (Elite), but I hear he may never be making more 1st gens. So my question is, who other than Elite and Relentless makes a good plate bumper? I see that All Pro is going to offer one shortly, but what other options are available. Imo, ARB looks like ass on anything other than full size rigs, so that's a no go. Thoughts?

For the 01-04 grille I like the center hoop because it breaks it up a bit more.
