At first I liked that it was larger, but that really sucks on trails. I do miss my '98 for that.

That I would consider even if I didn't need bigger. I always have liked the first Tundras, remind me of a taco that grew some.

I don’t see the Tundra as an upgrade to the Tacoma at all. It’s an entirely different animal.

When I started looking for a new truck a Tundra wasn't on my list because I knew I wasn't going to benefit from having one. They're good trucks and someone at job has a nice TRD one that he got because the dealer gave him a better deal on that, than he would have gotten on a Taco.

For me the Taco meets my needs and like others have said it's really a mtter kf what you want or need.

I cross shopped them a bit when I was deciding to get back into a truck after many years.

Gas mileage wasn't a deal breaker, just more so the size and excess of tow capability I would very rarely use. I didnt need that much tow capability, and the Tacoma is plenty big on the inside (and I'm 6' 220).

I use my truck for everything...family, work, city, country, long road trips, etc. And for city driving and parking it is superb, and I have the DCLB. Still very easy to park in most every old underground parking structure I've visited (portland, seattle, vancouver, bc).

I checked out a crewmax tundra on the car max lot. The rear space in that thing was....excessive.

At any rate, if I went back to owning acreage I'd have probably gone the newer f150 route. Might still go that route if we have another kid and they grow some, I dunno.

This is one of those questions you can only answer yourself after honestly assessing your own needs (and wants)

Actually one of my Tacoma’s was a 4Runner , my bad. So I actually had a total of 2 Tacoma’s and 2 Tundras. I didn’t put that many miles on them but I use to buy new vehicles often. For me trucks, for my wife nice cars. My last new Tacoma was 2009 which has only 90000 miles. I love everything about that truck so I’m hanging on to it. It is my hunting fishing, tow my boat vehicle.

For obvious reasons. Size: I don’t need a full size truck and it would not fit in my shallow garage as well. Mileage: less operating cost. Towing: I have nothing heavy enough that the Tacoma can’t handle.

For me my Tacoma fits the bill for two main reasons . I can park it in my garage, I like to keep my vehicles garaged. The second reason is I take it to hunting camp and the roads are narrow and a tundra wouldn't work as well .

I would like to have one, but that low slung plastic front end reminds me of the tupperware isle at Big Lots.

Yes, I don't need a gigantic truck that looks horrible. The older gen tundra looks much better...the new one...ugh. looks like someone smushed it

Agreed. Gen 2 Tundra certainly is a different animal. My friend bought a Gen 1 Tundra and we found that much of it’s design and parts were Tacoma. Some were stretched parts but structuralally the same. It seamed like the engineers were taked to build a full size truck quickly for the US market.

I think if I was to get a full size truck, I would shop and compair other full sizes. I would not need to do that for a Tacoma.

Toyota just builds that small/medium truck well.

I’m just not a Tundra fan. While the Tacoma is a leader in its class the Tundra is usually low on payload, power for its cost, at least 5-10k more than any other truck, and expensive to run. It’s kind of the opposite of the philosophy behind the Tacoma lol. I run F150s for work and I trade them off at around 140,000 miles. No issues, that’s just when it works out best on the depreciation. I don’t see any reason to try another Tundra since the last one I had 10 years ago is the same truck as Toyota is selling now lol.

Too big for city living and not a great steering lock again for city living and the fuel mileage...

We are as well as can be expected getting in a little fishing and getting rigs ready for hunting season.

I bought a Tacoma because I didn't want 13 mpg or need a full size, but I wanted a truck.

If I were to get a new truck, I would get a new Sierra or Silverado. But for the time being, a Tacoma is suitable for me.
