Oh, I also forgot to say I’m glad you like your Toyota’s and Tundra. Being pleasantly surprised and satisfied I totally understand your passion for the discussion. My passion for it comes mostly from my experience as well. I’ve been able to own a lot of trucks due to the amount of miles I rack up at work. I don’t hate the Tundra, but I’ve only been able to justify it’s on paper costs once and it didn’t live up to expectations. Nothing was wrong with it, but for the expense I could of had a similar experience working a Ford or GM.

You drive 55 mph? LOL I's love to heat the details of your driving style. That's great that you did that but your mpg is an outlier. Anecdotes are not data. As a previous post showed, most get around 15-16. And Tundras are still ugly.

Between 65 and 70 on the interstates, depending on the speed limit in the state (we went through 9 different states). A few back roads at 55 mph, but mainly highways.

I usually drive faster and my average commuting and in town going to meetings and construction sites is about 15 to 16. On this trip I tried to get as much as possible because my wife wanted us to take her Prius V because she can get 46 MPG. I wanted the extra comfort and insisted on taking the truck, and tried to show her that I can do it reasonably efficient.

Tundras being ugly is irrelevant - just personal opinion. I like mine.

Stunning. Just wish you could get a 6.5 feet bed with the crewcab

My brother has a double cab Tundra with 8' bed. That thing looks like a limo.

Yeah I know. I prefer the OEM way.

If Ford can sell me a crewmax with 8 feet or 6.5 feet bed, Toyota can at least give us 6.5 feet. Many of us want the interior space, with a decent bed too :)

Yeah if you want long bed, Toyota allows you 8 feet, but gives you small double cab. The crewmax should have a longer bed.

Because my dad bought me a new Tacoma when I got my learner's permit almost 9 years ago, and I plan on keeping my Tacoma until at least 2025. By then, I should have enough money to pay cash for a Tundy TRD PRO!

I’m shopping seriously for a Tundra right now. In my mid-30s, I’m ready for a little more room and height in my ride. A little more pep in my ride won’t hurt either. And I can afford it. Doesn’t look like my local place will be getting more infernos until the ‘19 launch though, and the $2k cash incentive isn’t a must-buy-now carrot to someone looking at spending $45k on a truck.

The could probably use the DCLB frame.

Why are you comparing a 3.5 liter to a 5.7 liter for gas consumption? Based on the numbers you posted the Ford has poor fuel economy with a 3.7 liter. I have a installer that just bought a Raptor. So far he is not too happy with the product. He got rid of his 2015 GMC Denali for the Raptor after his Denali had two A/C compressors replaced within 30000 miles, and developed a transmission shudder.

Tundra expensive? I think I paid 21000 for my Tundra with 3 miles on it in 2008. As a matter of fact when I purchased my 2014 Tacoma the dealer wanted to make me a sweet deal on a new Tundra that was nowhere near what I would consider expensive. If I compare what one of my installers paid for his GMC Denali, 55000 and he had to get rid of it with less than 40000 miles. Another person I know has a Denali and its had transmission and rear differential issues at less than 40000 miles. He is talking about getting a Dodge Ram. I told him good luck with that! The depreciation on those vehicles is ridiculous!

Because the top engine for the Ford is the 3.5 L Ecoboost. It is designed to perform better than the Ford 6.2 L V8. The Tundra's top engine is the 5.7 L V8. They are comparable.

I never posted Fords numbers with their naturally aspirated V6 (AKA the 3.7 L). That would be apples and oranges.

The Raptor has a special high output version of the Ecoboost that is not the same as the rest of the F150's, like most of the truck. Unlike Toyota with the TRD Pro line Ford actually makes their performance line more than just a few bolt on parts and stamped steel on the box sides.
Denali's are a stupid price, just like 1794 Tundra's. Those super high end models lose the most value. Unless you're trying to show off your wealth there is no reason to buy that level of trim.

That's cool that your dealer wanted to play ball on a Tundra. My last Tundra was only 3K off MSRP. My last F150 that's coming in 3 weeks is 9K off MSRP, and the MSRP on the XTR is about 2K lower than the SR5 in Canada with the same options to start with. There just isn't much discounting for fleet/work use from Toyota, never has been.

Think I have a deal done on an '18 inferno SR5 TRD Tundra. Drove one in another color all morning. I'm surprised at how "small" it drives. Pretty nimble steering for a full size truck. I was comfortable driving it within a few miles. Talked to my neighbor and he loves his Tundra after having multiple issues with his Ford. It's a common theme. Guess I'll need to move forums soon, assuming I can get a good interest rate. 2.5% seems to be prime around here right now.
