So Discount Tire damaged the center hubcaps on mine and has offered to replace them with OEM or aftermarket. Anyone care to find me alternatives that will fit these wheels? Mine are the darker ones that came on the FJ. Pic below for reference.

I really don't like how my sockets scrape the inside of the hub caps.

I found quotes from $15-25 per tire. Most shops seemed to be about $20 in the DFW area.

Hey thank you, I really messed up though, I was more curious about how much the sensors themselves cost. I have a quote from NTB that they are around $75 each. I apparently need for new ones to go with 17 inch alloy rims because they won’t transfer over from my 16 inch steel OEM wheels. Curious as to where anyone purchased new, reliable sensors from for 17 inch alloy Toyota Oem wheels.

Oh...the size of the wheel has nothing to do with it. You are correct though. TPMS sensors from steel wheels will not transfer to alloy wheels (or vice versa). From what I understand, they are a totally different style.

You don't have to put TPMS sensors in the new tires. You can take the old and create a pressurized canister to store the old ones in and never have to worry about that stupid light. Check out step 2 here: https://www.instructables.com/id/Repairfake-out-Tire-Pressure-Monitor-System/

Or disable the TMPS. Not sure if it is the same on a Tacoma, but here is how to do it on a Tundra: https://www.tundras.com/threads/disable-tpms.1056/

    thanks!!!

but believe it or not I’d like to use sensors again. Now that I drive around a lot with my girlfriend and her 9 year old, my view on the necessity of those sensors has changed, especially after getting a front tire blowout at 70 mph on the Ohio turnpike recently!

I just have to find the smartest option for obtaining 4 new sensors.

Discount Tire moved TPMS from my 16" Tacoma steelies to the 6 spoke 17" FJ alloys. Just had to face them the other way or something.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
You can buy new denso sensors (identical to the toyotas) and have them programmed

Amazon has them. I put them in my 05 tundra

The rim itself will fit just fine. As for will it rub, that is more about the tire size than it is the wheel. If you go with a skinny 255, then you shouldn't have any concern. If you go with a 285, then it will probably rub. If you stick with a 265 then I'd say it is probably a maybe.

Edit: I'm not sure the backspacing of that 16" wheel. The bolt pattern will be the same, so you'll definitely be able to mount it.

Anyone know if these will take to the tpms on a 3rd gen Tacoma? I just found a set local for 200 not sure if that’s a decent deal. But if the tpms don’t work then it’s a bummer.

I have those wheels with TPMS. My understanding is that TPMS sensors are different between alloy and steel wheels. So as long as you aren't coming from steel wheels, your existing TPMS will work.

So was browsing random car part ads on FB marketplace yesterday... and this happened:

    259409004_1992403840927338_8833042428151032535_n.jpg
The posting had been up for over 2 weeks and said "17 inch mags from a Hummer", that's it; barely had any views...
Two hour drive and $270 later, they are sitting in my garage; will have them powder coated black or bronze and fit some 33" pizza cutters in time for Spring :taco::santa2:
