Hey everyone, I'm new to TW, not sure if this is posted in the right section...

Anyways, I have a pretty standard, stripped down tacoma, not many bells and whistles... I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a windshield wiper lever/control that allows me to control mist/slow speeds and higher speeds. Right now my wipers only have three options: a manual wipe (move lever up) fast (one click down on lever) and super fast (two clicks down on lever) I need more control, bottom line... Also, is the install on something like this complicated?

    Thanks

You should be able to get them at the dealer, but I'd check ebay or the junkyard first.

It takes about 10 or 15 minutes. Let us know how it goes :D

No star tool needed, just 113.00 shipped to ya & a phillips & something to pry apart the shell on the column. The stalk has one big clip to release the stalk facing you.

    Hey all-

I am the proud new owner of an 09 Access cab 4x4 base model. Do I need the 05-07 part for VSC or w/o VSC?

84652-04141 shows up a long list it seems.

    Thanks very much.

Still hoping someone knows. The 09's have a VSC system, not sure if it's the same as 05-08, or if it really matters.

    Ideas?

As I recall, it doesn't matter what the piece is for, only that it has that part number. It is the exact same part for several different models of Toyota including the '09's

First, thanks for the great info (I am new to this site). I just purchased a new 09 Tacoma Access Cab 4x4 and it only has the 2 speed wiper control (there is not even an intermittent position) Does the 84652-04141 provide that piece as well or am I stuck with what I have. If so, are there instructions to replace it as well as replacing just the relay. Appreciate any advice

I have an '09 and used 84652-04141. Everything is built into the switch. It still does the "bump" swipe, two speeds and variable intermittent control and misting. Follow the install thread. Once you get the cowling off unclip and unplug the old switch and plug in the new one and slide it in the clip. The most trouble I had was wrestling the cowling off and on. But basically a pretty simple job. And once you get it on you will really appreciate it.

Hey, this is my first post to TW. This is a great site and I appreciate all the help from friendly folks here.

I have basic extended cab 2010 Tacoma. I wasn't satisfied with the wiper controls and wanted and intermittent one. I learned from other posts on TW that there are two wiper stems which will work and replacing them for my old two speed stem would work and no wiring is needed. I got a used 84652-02610 off of ebay, installed it with a little help from TW users and, viola, it works like a charm. Now I understand that part no. 84652-04141 works just fine only the intermittent direction is opposite from the one I installed but, what the hey, it works in either direction.

The installation is pretty straightforward but care should be made in first removing the modular side by side connectors attached to the stem, and then removing the stem. The reason is that the stem in place will help stabilize the part to help "unplug" the connector. The other thing to do is find the place to push to release the stem. It's right in the middle facing the driver. A flat-edge screwdriver should work nicely. DON'T ever force anything, just be gentle and nice and easy. You can do it. My backup plan is a friendly Toyota dealer service tech. They will always help when they see you already have the part because they want your business for the future.

I do have one question about the new wiper stem: what does the mist function do? My wife has a Rav4 with a mist position but the users manual never mentions it. When I try to activate it on the stem all I get is a one swipe of the wipers and no mist. Am I doing something wrong? This also what happens on my wife's Rav4.

To get the swipe you bump the handle up. To get it to mist you pull it toward you. To do a quick window clean pull the lever toward you a time or two for some liquid then bump the handle up for a swipe. This is how it works on my Taco and my wife's Highlander.

    Welcome aboard.

    Rick
