They are all about the same. The cheap ones are hit and miss. I have the $11 one from Amazon and it's been working great since 2011.

So you just plug it in to your truck, load of the torque app, and you are good to go? If the answers are in this thread maybe someone could point me int he right direction? It would be nice to get HP/temps/MPG info.

For the most part yes. You do need to setup the Torque app with the truck info but it's pretty simple.

HP won't be accurate. Temps are there but you'll have to add the trans temp manually. MPG info is there but it's hit and miss on how accurate it is.

Towing the track car from San Diego to Sacramento, bought a bluetooth OBD2 scanner and the Torque Pro app. Do I need the custom PID codes to read my '14 AT Tacoma tran's temp or is it all ready to go within the app?

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Not sure of the 14, but I need the custom PID for my '08 trans temps. Add it in and see if it works. That's the best advice I have.

Some of you guys posted 2 custom PIDs. I added both and now temp 1 and temp 2 are reading, but both are different temps. What does that mean?

The pan is usually the first pid. The torque converter is the second. I believe it's just timing issue of receiving senor data but I'm not and expert on this.

Yes, from what I believe. The torque converter should read higher than the pan if i recall correctly. Not due to timing, but it just runs warmer.

Anyone data logging with torque? Curious how many readings you get per second. I have some old logs that I was getting about 8/s now I'm getting 1.

Are there more instructions for adding the trans temp?

I tried and got an error that the variable didn't exist. So I exit out

I stopped using this app, gosh, two years ago? There was a mandatory upgrade to the torque app when I got a new phone, I couldn't have the old version on my new phone. The new version of the app required me to turn on the location service on my phone to even install the app. I wasn't willing to let go of that control, so I didn't download the new version.

I have the Torque ODB Pro app.

on the customizable screens there's an option to add transmission temp gauges... But the gauges don't do anything. Hm

That's because of Android requirements. Android made it that some simple things like knowing your WiFi name needs some level of location services enabled. Even though the app itself doesn't actually need that function, they must comply with Google or get kicked from the Play Store.

You could search on apkmirror (legit backups) to find an older version of Torque. It should still function fine on newer versions of Android without location services.

You need to create a custom PID. The included PIDs don't work on the Tacoma (and other Toyotas)

They are easy enough to configure. From the opening screen, tap the cog wheel. Then settings. The towards the bottom you can manage custom PIDS.

There are different PIDs between 09 and 10+ so be mindful of that.

Does anybody with Android 11 have Torque functioning? It has not worked since the 11 Beta launched and the Dev seems out to lunch?
