Has anyone put in the D31A Yellowtop Battery in their 3rd gen? I know stock is the D27F, but the D31A has a lot more juice and is just a little bigger in every dimension. Wondering if I could make it fit with *minimal* modification.

    D27F- 68Ah, 830CCA, $300
    6.76” x 12.16” x 8.61”

    D31A- 75Ah, 900CCA, $345
    6.56” x 12.81” x 9.38”

Stock is a 24, the 27 was for a 2nd Gen with tow package. You can fit a larger battery if you purchase a battery tray from a 2nd Gen.

From what I've been told by Grossomotto, post #20 in this thread, New battery is does fit.

I noticed some size discrepancies between some bci group numbers and dimensional specifications tables. But it should work nonetheless. See below.

    Group ---------- Length ---------- Width ---------- Height
    24F ------------ 10 3/4 ---------- 6 13/16 ------- 9
    24F ------------ 10.3 ------------ 6.8 ------------ 8.9

    34R ------------ 10 1/4 --------- 6 13/16 ------- 7 7/8
    34R ------------ 10.3 ----------- 6.8 ------------- 7.9

    ---

I also noticed by BearWithMe post #22 in the thread New battery that even with the "Group 34 plastic spacer that people sell online is still about 1/2" too short for the stock Group 24F battery tie-down. Even with that spacer installed, you'll have to come up with something additional..."

I am assuming he is talking about the Black Spacer for Group 34 to Group 24
Part number 2220-1251 made by Odyssey. (I am going to ask him)

Yes. That is the part. I'm ordering the part and the battery soon.
