I have the M/T G003'S, not in the same size however. Out of all the tires ive owned (Cooper MTP, Falken wildpeak MT and Toyo MT and AT) the Yokohamas are my favorite, they do very well in wet conditions and hook well on rocks. i dont have alot of miles on them so i dont know how theyll hold up in the long run. Id definitely purchase them again, and probably will.

I don't think I saw those when I looked up that specific tire size.

Tagged to read up on others thoughts.

There's one under my 2015 right now. Trying to get a spacing issue cleared up so i can run them on the front with the stock 2nd gen OR wheels. I loved them in 235/85s which I swapped for these.

OP, there's a big thread on here with maybe 40 pages of people running these tires with good results. They're also popular in the LC community.

How do you like the MT's on pavement? I've never owned MT's and I'm thinking about purchasing them for my next set on my Tundra.

    Damn

It took beating my spare tire holder on the Tacoma to fit just a 235/85/16; fortunately I ran a swing out afterward.

4Runner will need some new shoes in a few months so there's that. Running Coopers now.

I have the G003's in a 295/70r17. They're a great tire in the rocks and offroad, but don't expect them to be quiet or anything. MT's are loud. Some more than others.
These are louder than my General grabber X3's I had before.

They suck in the sand and super soft though. Dig in too much since they're an aggressive MT. An AT would be better for that

I definitely encouraged the two arms/forks at the front with a big hammer, but it didn't take much persuasion. I was surprised it fit so well, it's tucked in perfectly with the hitch and exhaust.

Might search around in the tires/wheels sub-forum.

As for wheels, stock wheels work just fine on that size. But any 16" wheel that floats your boat will fit. Might want to stick to a narrower wheel, like an 8" or less. Just make sure you get proper backspacing (generally close to stock).

Agree with this. I run a 255/85R16 (BFG) on an 8" wheel and wouldn't go any wider than that. I think tire manufacturer recommended is 7.5" or less for this narrow of a tire. With that said, I've aired down to 15PSI without issue. Just take care to not take turns too hard

fairly quiet for MT’s, I’m the wrong person to ask because my truck is noisy and I added a bunch of sound deadening to combat it

I've been reviewing Toyo MT's and I hear they're pretty quite for MT's. Some people say with proper rotation and air pressure they're not that loud.

I liked my Toyos but for the price i went a different direction… I paid $20 a tire more for my 37” Yokohamas than i did for my 285/75R17 toyo MT’s

I have them in a 255/85r16 with junkyard 1st gen spare steelies, spray painted not powder coated for easy touch up. They only have about 5,000 miles on them but so far I'm impressed. They're quieter on-road with much better traction off-road than the Cooper ST Maxx's I had before. I've had no trouble keeping up with my brother's side by side in snow and mud, though I do have front and rear lockers. The only time I've slid around and crab walked a little more than a side by side was on a well-traveled hard packed dirt road after a heavy rain where there's inches of wet slime on top of the hard surface.

    Nice!

Wouldn't a better comparison be the STT Pro's though?

I run the S/T Maxx and consider STT Pro's, these Yokohama's, or Toyo MT's (my spare currently).

That would be a better comparison but I've never had a set of STT pros. The ST Maxx's were the first set of tires I put on when I got this truck in 2015. The STT Pro and Geolandar M/T hadn't been been released yet. When I needed new tires in 2019, STT Pros would have been my first choice but they were not available in a 255/85r16.

I’ve got about 35000km on yoko MT’s from a 5th gen 4Runner and my 1st gen taco. Cannot say enough good things about them. I run them year round up here too. I’ve got the 285/75/16 now, but will most likely go with the 255/85 setup next round.
