People seem to periodically ask about how to convert their prerunners to 4x4's (non SAS) and what all is required for it etc. well i'm really bored at work so i'm attempting to consolidate some of the threads that i've found from this forum and others. Bear with me here as i slowly collect more information. Any input or links to other threads is greatly appreciated as well!

without screwing with the computer, you'll need something to trick the front diff into thinking its linked to the 4x4 ecu, which you dont have because you're a prerunner, doh. fortunately rock solid toys has developed an ADD harness that you simply have to hook up to the actuator that you wire a switch to so none of the 4x4 electronics will be needed.

what you'll need (taken from VanCity4x's thread) and seems to be the most accurate-

    A750F 4x4 Transmission
VF2A FJ Crusier (Automatic) Transfer Case
Tacoma Front Diff w/ mounting hardware
    CV axles
    4x4 hubs/bearings
    CV nut/seals
    Front drive shaft
    ADD Harness - replaces ecu
    Custom tranny crossmember
    Modified rear drive shaft
    modified y-pipe exhaust
+large assortment of mounting bolts, seals and misc parts

so far this is what i've found, as most people want a manual T case when they convert because a little switch is ghey.

Rock Solid Toys-Marlin crawl box and FJ t case modded for twin sticks, with ADD actuator

VanCity4x- using FJ T case without twin sticks or crawler box

PSUTaco85 (was already 4x4 but put a manual FJ T case in)

idk if this will help anybody, but it might eliminate some of the "im butthurt and want to convert to 4x4 threads"

    enjoy:mudding:
