I installed mine today in my 05 access cab the same install as the OP and All went well. :) I should have taken more pictures during the install, but I was in a rush and forgot until I was finished. I couldn't be more happy with the finished product. I did do some trimming to the plastic as talked about with pictures in the other thread to help it fit flush.

Here is the other thread with pictures of the trimming. I trimmed mine with a dremel tool and did not take it out of the truck.

Has anyone tried connecting a backup camera to one of these 2013 bluetooth touchscreen non/nav units? I am just curious if these support it, and if there are plug n play if you get the right connectors?

If you have a backup camera already in your truck yes you can get a harness that will divert the cam to the radio screen on the 13 radio. There is a guy on ebay selling them.

So I have a question for everyone upgrading to the newer touch screen Toyota stereos, why?

The stereo is OK, but nothing really special. The display washes out badly in sunlight, and Toyota did not think to design a sun shield. The bluetooth is good, but nothing special. It does not support voice dialing, and is very slow to reconnect with your phone if the connection is dropped for some reason. With all the excellent after market stereos, why spend the money on the factory radio?

I for one like the factory look and still can add an amp/sub and with changing out the door speakers using the factory head unit having a good sounding stereo. The built in navigation on the 2014 deck is pretty good as well and alot better than spending 1k on a good aftermarket deck w nav when you can get the factory 14 w nav for only 450.

I agree on the price issue, it will probably be more expensive to go after market. The Alpine FIT kit stereos are all over $1k. I just wish Toyota has seen fit to make this unit fully functional, it has less bluetooth features than the 5 year old stereo I had in my last car. And maybe something to address the issues with sunlight on the screen. Is the Entune any better in sunlight than the base touch screen?

You still get glare on the entune like the base radio. If they would have made the screen more vertical instead go with the contour of the dash the galre would be greatly reduced.

Maybe changing the screen angle would help, though they could have also designed a sun shade into the trim panel. Anyway, off my rant now.

I have a 2014 Nav radio in my 2009, and with all the materials and plugs/harnesses I'm in less than an aftermarket and there are no issues with compatibility with my existing backup camera, my steering wheel controls, etc. And it's the clean OEM look.
    Bluetooth connects very fast
    Maps work awesome
Apps like IHeartRadio and Pandora work like a charm

    No complaints here.

For the guys doing the Non-Nav, Non-JBL, Non-Entune radio swap into a truck that didn't come with the USB/Aux hook-up: Where you able to hook up a USB slot by just running a stock harness from the radio to the dash and hooking it to a stock switch?

Did you need different brackets? I see different posts with people saying they used different brackets. Did the 2013 radio you bought come with brackets, or did you reuse the existing ones?

Also, to the OP. Did you have to do anything special to get your steering wheel controls to work, or did you just hook up the HU and the existing wiring did the rest?

The USB port fits into one of the slots below the HVAC controls without any modifications.

Then is it simply running a cord/harness from the switch to the back of the radio?

Isn't that for aftermarket head units? I'm curious if I can bypass the hacking of switches/wires, and do a simple plug and play since the new tacomas have the USB slot. I imagine it'd be just as simple as a plug in the back of head unit, then a toyota cord running from the 2013 touch screen to the Toyota USB plug on the dash.

Josh I'm sorry - I'll find the part number for you when I get home. It was an eBay plug. There's a Toyota one but the eBay plug does the truck at a fraction of the price.
